Battery life is terrible after 3.2 update?

I discovered that if I put my Xoom in Airplane mode the battery life is fine again. I think it must have something to do with Wifi. Still haven't been able to fix it though.

Hi all:

i just want to add something to this topic, because i have been trying so hard to figure out why on ny Xoom, 3.2 takes up more battery when screen is off, compared to 3.1. Yes, i have this problem as well. When i leave my xoom overnight in 3.1, I loose about 2-5% of battery max. But in 3.2, i loose at least 9% if not more than 15%. this impacts the number of days i can go on my xoom without a recharge.

I have finally found some clue as to why this is so. I downloaded CPU spy, which tracks how long the xoom's CPU is in a certain freq state over a period of time, which does affect battery life.

In 3.1, CPU spy reports that my Xoom is in Deep Sleep mode for 90% of the time when left overnight.
In 3.2, CPU spy reports that my Xoom is running in 216Mhz for 80% of the time, which explains the extra battery drain.

Now i gotta figure out what app is preventing my xoom from going into deep sleep.

Check your wifi settings. Go to advanced under wifi settings, you can change options when wifi actually goes off. Its either always on, when it charges, or never.

I've been having problems with mine for the last week or so. I don't think the OS version has changed since I got it in October (refurbed), but out of nowhere the battery life is now terrible. I installed some widgets on my homescreen last weekend and figured it could be one of those (I suspected the X-box Live friends widget, thinking it was constantly looking to see if any of my friends were online), but removing it doesn't seem to have helped. Using ATK to kill pretty much everything hasn't helped either. Going to see if any of the wi-fi settings mentioned by others here help out.

Update : removed all recently added widgets and turned off all location services, which I'm sure I didn't do in the past. Result - 20% of the battery drained while I slept. Battery usage actually shows the screen taking 70% of that. Not sure why the screen would stay on while it was "asleep". I did get ICS pushed to it this morning though, so curious to see if that helps at all.

UPDATE- I switched the settings so that wi-fi only stays on when it's asleep when it's charging. I also got the ICS update. One of those 2 has solved my battery issues. Will try switching the wi-fi back to see if that's the problem, or if it was something else that the update just took care of.
