Battery life not lasting? Your fix is in here

My battery has been killing it today. Going on 11 hours, have 37% left. Have done a decent amount of web surfing, a lot of app downloading, Twittering/Facebooking, gChatting, a tiny bit of video playback, a phone call, took some pictures, some texting, and currently listening to Pandora. This is all WITH the "Always on" option discussed in here checked. Day 3, FYI.

I have a hard time believing this.

i got 14 with a little use with the setting off yesterday on the seidio extended battery, meanwhile my storm 2 still has 24% with a lot more use and its been 29 hours so far....sigh

I pulled by DI off the charger just now. It was at 100%. I launched this website in the browser, visited this thread, and went back to the homescreen. 95%.

Just for kicks, I just looked down at it while idling. 94%. I have no apps running in the background except for widgets, live wallpaper, and gtalk.

OOOOK. Question for you guys that are having severe battery issues. Are you using a task killer (like ATK) type of app that runs in the background?

I uninstalled ATK from my DI and ran the exact test (see above) again. 100% off the charger, 100% after loading this thread. 100% after an IM conversation I just had...

Could an app designed to save battery, be one of the causes of drain? What do you guys think?

Yea I had the storm 2 and it did pretty good on battery life. Ugh, I really dont wanna go back to it though.

ohh ok thanks just wanted to make sure i wasnt missing something, i had a palm pixi before this phone, and battery life is signifigantly better, but i would have been more skeptical about it about it if I didnt have the palm's awful batter life before.

In my experience, this "trick" does not seem to work. I disabled it last night, left the phone on the charger overnight as I usually do. Took it off the charger at about 830AM. With VERY modest use (a short phone call, a couple emails, 2 minutes of web browsing) here we are at 3:30pm and I'm in the yellow.

Dammit. This phone is simply amazing in every regard, but this. There's no way I can put up with less than 7 hours of essentially standby battery life on a brand new phone - what will it be like in 6 months? A year? Can't even imagine I'll get an hour out of it.

Time for Verizon to step up on this, in my opinion, and offer discount (Free?) extended batteries to Incredible consumers. There's a certain standard of technology I expect out of a $200 phone with a $350 ETF.

when Enable always-on mobile data is disabled, I notice that the network connection gets disrupted after a minute or so while the phone's display is off. I like to listen to online streaming radio and it stops playing unless always on mobile data is enabled.

i don't. mine's kicking butt today too. on at 7am. 2 hr f'n commute due to some accident during which i was checking 5 email accounts, surfing the web to a good half dozen sites and making liberal use of google maps to see the damn traffic patterns. once i got to work i've fired off at least 15 or so gtalk ims, a good 3-4 twitter updates and checked email throughout the day in addition to continually monitoring battery usage. just hit 50% battery at 3:50pm. thats with the mobile network always on, gps on and bluetooth on

OP's trick, gps off, wifi off, basically sitting there idle (5 text messages, 2-3 gtalk ims, minimal internet use), my phone went from 100% down to 54% between 9:45 am and now (1pm).

Screen is somewhere wetween 30 and 40% brightness. 'Android system' is using over 60% of my battery.

Youre right, I just made it up to sound cool.

I don't think you're lying, it's just that your experience and mine are about as opposite as it gets.

I considered that perhaps the Sense weather app is using a lot of battery to constantly adjust location, so I disabled Location services (for the phone in general) to see if that helps anything. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there's any way to disable the location services for the weather widget in particular. Maybe I'll switch to the Beautiful home one or something if this helps my battery (I like location service for Google maps just to search a general area).

After time spent using the trick, I was still getting poor performance too.

The trick might work in a few instances, but I doubt it will help very many people.

Thanks for trying, though. :)

Be careful not to accidentally hit the first mobile networks as this WILL indeed turn off your phones capability to handle wireless data and calls. As long as you hit the second one and on the next screen, uncheck the always on box you will be good to go. Made that mistake myself and wondered what in the world was going.

interesting. i will check that this evening. i have also noticed today that my gmail seems to delay sometimes. probably 3 times now today, i've picked up my phone, unlocked it and seconds later i get alerted about a new email. when i check the time, it showed up in my gmail inbox 15 - 20 minutes prior to me checking. it's as if the alert is delayed and it's triggering a push when i unlock it. so far after a little facebook / internet browsing, some emails, a couple texts, a couple phone calls and using a couple basic apps i have ~40% left after being unplugged for 9 hours.

I've noticed that my battery lasts longer than when I first got it. One of the biggest things I noticed is that when I immediately unplug my phone from the charger.. it can drop down to 90% quite fast. I believe once my phone hits about 60 or 70%.. the battery doesn't drop quite as fast.

I took my phone off the charger at 5:45am.. talked on the phone for about 25 minutes. received about 8-10 text messages. Updated facebook status, refreshed fb a few times, refrsehed weather a few times, maybe surfed 1-2 websites. Right now it's 4:33pm and i'm at 60%.

also, I thought I might just add this... yesterday while fishing left the car at 3pm with my phone at 100%. I had iheartradio going for about 2 hours, and then the phone warned me that the battery was down to 15%.

I've listened on my storm 1 for 4+ hours before and only dropped the battery by half. I'm really concerned that I may have a defective battery.
