Battery Life of the Moto Z Force DROID Edition

Today I got 13 hours on the battery pack and it was still at 9%>😊😊😊😊 now I'm on main battery and it's at 98%. Ridiculous battery life. Solved my number one gripe with most phones I've had!!!! Even picked up a sound boost today for $59 at Verizon and used it for an hour or so. The Z force is over and above my hopes.

For those of you getting great battery life do you have any configuration setting recommendations that may help? I took my phone off charge this morning when I got up at around 7:30 a.m. by 6:00 p.m I was down to about 30%.

I disable all the bloat ware (there's a thread in this forum). I also don't use the moto actions stuff. It annoys me.
I also shut down 4g,wifi,and disable background data (on the screen to turn on/off 4g there's 3 dots upper right corner) at night. I don't like stuff running in the background while I sleep. Just my preferences.
I lose about 4-6% overnight.
But keep in mind no two of us will get the exact same results. 4g signal strength I think is the biggest battery drain. I had a really bad signal but now have a 4g network extender so that helps alot.

^No gaming here either fwiw. I don't get a great signal so that doesn't help.
If you have a weak signal start calling Verizon and complaining. I started out with 3g network extenders. Had one for about 4 years and just recently upgraded to a 4g one. Much improved signal. I was at about 1 bar and -125 signal strength. Now with the 4g extender it's 5 bars and -80 signal strength.

But be a pain in their butt and they should help you. I had to threaten to cancel 3 lines. But they finally helped after about 5 calls.

Thanks. But at home I'm on Wi-Fi so would it make a difference in that case? I live in a small town of 3500 so when I'm out the signal is weak. Sometimes I just force it into 3G.

I disabled all Verizon crapware, deleted the vzw games. I have wifi on, Bluetooth on paired w a Moto 360. Display on adaptive brightness set at 50%. That's about all I did.

That was my case too. Had great 3g signal and most of the time I was connected to wifi. You would be surprised how big of a difference a 3g network extender makes. Or even the 4g one. It totally changed how I connect.

Hi all!

I was getting about 2.5 to 3 hours screen time per charge, obviously not very good. I don't know how accurate battery monitor apps like Duo are but after installing a few types of these apps I was only seeing a max battery capacity of 1390 mah which is not close to the 3500 the phone should have. I just returned the phone to Verizon for other issues including a static pop when playing audio and also wifi calling not working well. Just got home with new phone and once again I am showing 1390 mah, is it possible I could have 2 bad phones or maybe these apps don't work, I did try on my Sony tablet and it showed correct 6000 mah, anyone else having this issue? Loading up all the apps and trying phone again with full charge, really love this phone so far but I can't deal with the battery issues, sorry for the long post!Screenshot_20160819-205148.jpg

App definitely doesn't work.

My battery lasts all day with heavy use. I do normally get a half an hour or car charge time during the day.

Agreed. Granted this was indoors, on wifi, but the numbers are awesome. About 6 hours in airplane mode while sleeping, but then up and playing on my phone a bunch.

To soon to be sure l, but I think fixed my battery drain. Last night I set location services to battery saver which stops using GPS. I then charged the phone overnight. As of 6:00 p.m. today my battery is still at 70%, where yesterday it was at about 30% at this time. I'll keep monitoring

Nothing epic, but an improvement. Comparing battery life numbers is ultimately not terribly useful because of so many factors, but if your held awake is low and nothing is using more battery than it should, then you're doing well. 1472224889948.jpg

I meant to post the other screen, which was running towards around 30 hours and 7+ hours SOT. Looks like I need to get off that AC forum app. Lol.

This is the first phone I've had where I didn't have to heavily configure it to preserve battery. I disabled some bloatware and Moto Actions or whatever its called but that's it. I use it how a phone is meant to be used (gaming, web browser, reading books, FB, etc).

Is it suggested to "cycle" the battery - down to 10%, then charge, then down to 10% again?

Eh not so much with lithium ions. Every once in awhile may be ok but the battery will last longer with smaller incremental charges than single long ones.

My biggest draw to getting the battery pack is that trickle charging the main battery should ultimately (in theory) extend the lifespan of the battery by keeping it charged but not overly heating it up.

Just a fair warning - the Z Force is heavy with the battery pack! Unless you are an extremely heavy user, you won't need the battery pack to get through a long day.

How heavy are we talking? I read about double the weight and double the thickness which I suppose is acceptable to me.

I don't even disable the Moto Actions and still get great battery life.

Battery life is exceeding my expectations right now. I'll have more in my full review.
