Battery life sucks now

I have seen the battery life slowly decrease over time, but that's typical. 10 hours SOT to 8 hours over a little less than 2 years, but over the last few weeks I'm barely getting 4.5. I haven't installed any new apps and my daily usage is the same. The only thing I've noticed is that Messages seems to be drawing more power. Not sure if there was a recent update that could have caused it or if the battery has just can't hold the charge that well anymore.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

For how well this phone has treated me, I'm probably going to move on shortly.

Over the last couple of months, my battery is to the point where I have to charge it 2 or 3 times a day. I really wish I had the nerve to attempt the battery replacement.

I really love this phone and want to keep it.

We have two. My wife's battery will go to 50%, then within 30 minutes, it will drop off to nothing and shut down. Mine is still running strong. We have slapped a battery pack on hers, and she is happy with it, other than losing a case,and of course the extra weight..

I've watched those battery replacement videos several times now, and I am not sure I'd try it, unless I had another phone lined up, just in case....

On another note, what phone will you move toward after the Z play??

Funny you say that. Wife wife ordered me the Moto 2200 battery mod for Christmas. I'm hoping that gets me another year or so on this phone.

Just got my wife a Moto G6. I'd get that in a heartbeat, if it had NFC. I've been researching the Z3 and that seems to be OK and I'd be able to use this Moto Mod.

My SOT today was barely 3 hours. Messages was 18% of the battery when I only sent 4 texts and had 2 minutes of screen. No idea what's going on.

I really don't want the bulk of a battery pack and don't want to have to worry about having it with me. I think I really just want a new phone. I'm ready to pull the trigger on the One Plus 6t. A little more than what I want to spend, but you get a lot of bang for that $550.

Well, the my new battery mod allowed me to go a bit longer without looking for my charger. I've been leaving it one continuously, but really do miss my normal case.
