I just wanted to touch base with everyone and find out what everyone's battery life has been like after the Lollipop update. I received it on Monday, and my battery life has gone way down. I charge it overnight every night, and now it's been off the charger for 3 hours. I have listened to music (PlayerPro) for 30 minutes at the gym over a bluetooth headset. I have had minimal usage since then (a few text, facebook messenger, checked email), and my battery is at 64% already.

I have checked the battery usage, and it says that screen is at 21% usage, Android System is 14%, Android OS is 11%, Google Services 10%. All others are 4% or lower.

Yesterday I cleared system cache. Also went through and removed a couple apps I didn't use anymore. Those things have had no effect.

I am considering a wipe/re-install, but just want to hear thoughts from any who have had similar situation, and what (if anything) you've done to help the problem? Is a wipe/re-install the best option?

I am on Verizon.

It seems like a common problem (from what I have read over the past 2 days). It seems like the only solution is to wipe/re-install. Not looking forward to that process, but if it helps in the long run, I guess it's worth it. The way things are now, I can't stray too far away from a charger, so that's no way to live.

Wipe and reinstall as in not restoring after wiping right ?
I did wipe and reinstall yesterday and then restores. Battery is draining like no other.

I don't currently backup anything, so restore isn't really an option for me. But I have been looking at backup software. If I do it, I will just wipe and re-install everything from scratch.

My logic is if you restore, you are just bringing all the old crap along with you from before. Don't know if that's accurate or not, would love to hear thoughts.

Yes i agree with that. I saw others saying the same thing, that a restore isnt really wokring at this point. Like i said my experience also points to the same

I don't know what you mean by wipe and restore. I had Google problems after lollipop update. I saved my data to vzw cloud and did a factory reset. Yes, there is a hassle of downloading and setting up apps, but I am running glitch free. Very smooth.

Not seeing any difference in battery life post lollipop. I'm in TMo

My battery life went to about half of what it was on kit Kat. I did factory reset and back to normal, maybe a little better.

Same here. Verizon Lollipop a train wreck. Factory reset does not help....been there done that. Battery life....bad. apps slow or will not load. Google apps, search, voice command, and ok google commands, do not work or verrrrrrry slow. Battery slower to recharge than before

I'm getting ready to do a factory reset, took off the charger at about 7:30 and it is already down to 57% with moderate usage. Very disappointed with battery life after the update.

If you don't mind reporting back after you reset, that'd be great.

I plan on doing it tomorrow (no time today). I am hoping that it helps. Actually, I don't know if it'll get much worse than it is.

If you're having issues after updating, you should definitely make sure your data is backed up to your card or externally, and do a factory reset.

If you continue having problems, look at the apps you have on your phone to see if it's an app that's causing problems. Not all apps have been successfully updated to work with Lollipop. I've also heard that battery performance improves after a few days for some people.

The other issue is that with the update, there are some changes to looks & functionality. Some people think "I don't like the new way this works" is the same as a "buggy update". There's a difference.

It seems a little bit better but can't really give an accurate answer until I give it a full charge tonight. If it's still crap tomorrow then I start considering other options for a phone, especially since I don't really use many apps and currently none show any significant battery usage.

I would give it a couple days. I've heard that battery performance improved after a few days for most people.

My update went pretty smooth with the only issue being the Wi-Fi calling not enabling. Battery was fine, if not better and the thing ran so smooth. For some reason, because I had everything backed up anticipating a factory reset, I went ahead with it. Kind of a pain re installing everything and losing game data on a couple games but nothing compared to the issues I'm having now. Not only is the Wifi calling still an issue, Wi-Fi it self keeps shutting off. I also can't seem to send any picture messages. Also battery seems to be draining a little faster. What a mess. Should have left it alone
