Battery Life Tests

So I've had the Rezound now for a couple weeks, and I've done some unscientific battery tests. I'm a cable guy, and use my phone for all my work orders, so I would say I'm on the Internet for 4-6 hours, will use the music player for anywhere from 2-6 hours, an hour worth of phone calls, and pretty much no texting. Some days at lunch I'll watch videos, but that's maybe 30 minutes, and lastly, maybe 45 minutes of gaming. The standard battery did not have a chance, and I thought at first, the extended battery didn't have a chance either. The first day I had the extended battery, it actually sucked. So I tried Juice Defender Ultimate. I set up for the standard savings, and did notice quite a difference. By the end of my 11 hour shift, I had maybe 20-25% battery left (extended). I felt satisfied with this, but thought "really, thats it?" This weekend, for my days off, I shut off JD, did what used to be called calibrating your battery (a sort of bump charge, but just one round) turned the power mode to normal, turned 4G back on, and just used the phone. That was 4 days ago. Today was my first day back at work, and who knew, but I was at 45% at the end of my work day.

So the point of this, and I don't know why I didn't do what I knew was correct, just let Gingerbread do it's thing for a while, and it will figure things out for you. Also, Juice Defender, while at first I liked, I'm not into. It may have been needed pre 2.3, but now I'm saying no.

Lastly, the only thing I toggle manually on and off is WiFi. Keep the screen on auto, and leave 4G on all the time. Also, 3D games are a huge drain, way more so than streaming HD YouTube videos.

So if you just got your phone, be patient and reserve judgement on battery life until you start using your phone like normal, and wait a few days after that so Android can figure out how to save you some juice.

i also would like to know about the battery. i had the droid incredible and from the terrible battery life of that phone i didn't want another htc phone until they fixed their battery life. with this being 4g, i would imagine it would be even worse so just wondering if this has been fixed.

I'm waiting for the king of all upgrades. The new lithium ion batteries, of course.
I couldn't even imagine charging my phone in less than 10 minutes, and the battery lasting more than 5 days without a charge. That's gonna be insane.

I love all my cordless Li-Ion equipment. I can't wait for the $200 battery for my phone. lol

I also tried juice defender and didn't find that it could really do much more for plotter saving than could already be done.
I keep mobile toggled off unless I specifically need it and also toggle off WiFi when I know I'm out of range. At first I never let WiFi sleep, either. Now I get it switch of automatically unless plugged in (set in Advanced WiFi settings).
Since switching from webOS, I've suddenly become less concerned about staying connected 24/7. Counterintuitive, I suppose and admit. Not sure why, but I don't feel like I'm missing anything by shutting off once on a while. Ymmv.

Worth it, dude. Worth it. Although I'm really hoping they wouldn't cost that much.
My wallet's face when I'm buying a new phone: :-\
My wallet's face when new batteries are out: :'(
