Battery Life Thread

I turned off Google Now and also the keyboard vibrate when typing, see how that helps.

I've also disabled keeping wifi on during sleep, I set that to only when plugged in.

seems to be doing good now. After an hour and a half it's only dropped a percent.

I gave mine a workout last night setting everything up, downloading apps, calls, Facebook and a few games. About 4 hours of constant use. I was at 64% when I finally put it down. I'm very happy about battery life so far.

Today will be my first full day with it. Unplugged at 9am and I'm still at 100%. Only a couple of calls and texts though. Still my gnex would have been to about 90% by now. Looking forward to seeing if this thing can last all day and then some.

How do you turn off Google now?

opened google now and then went to its settings and basically turned it all off. I might try putting it back on tomorrow to see if it was the root cause but we'll see how today goes first. Something was preventing it from going to sleep.

I'm super happy with the battery life so far. Played with it almost non-stop for over 3 hours last night and went from about 75% to 35%. Today under normal workday usage (still playing with it a lot more than usual since it's new), I'm at 89% after 3.5 hours including 45 minutes of Spotify streaming on the way to work. Says I have about 23 hours left on the battery. My GNex would've been at about 40% at best right now. Short of streaming video non-stop, I don't see having a problem making it through the day without charging.

Cell Carrier: Verizon
Time Off Charger: 3 hours
Screen On Time: 20m 45s
Battery Remaining: 89%
Wifi? Half and half
Auto Brightness (If Off, what Brightness Setting): Yes, 60%

I haven't done any extreme testing, but there is zero doubt in my mind that this phone blows any I've had away in terms of battery life. This is really a quantum leap. I'm off the charger about 3 hours and I'm down only 3%. Granted light use, a bit of email, web surfing and one picture, but no phone I've ever had would be close to this minimal drop after 3+ hours.

I'm pretty happy with mine so far. I haven't done any streaming this morning or CPU intensive stuff; Just poked around on the phone, text, FB, web, a couple camera shots, 10min phone call.

Cell Carrier: Verizon
Time Off Charger: 4:45
Screen On Time: 1:20
Battery Remaining: 82%
Wifi? None
Auto Brightness (If Off, what Brightness Setting): Off, 40%

I've been off the charger since about 2:35 and it's now 5:46 and I have 98% left. I've been on reddit a bunch and did a little web browsing. The battery tool says I have about 83+ hours left. Can't be right...

Verizon
Off charger 7 hours
Screen time 3 hours
Remaining 40%
Been on wifi, 4G and even some 3G
Also have taken about 40 pics.
This thing would have been long died of it was my GNex!

This battery life is insane coming from the gnex. I'm on almost 13 hours including two hours of Pandora. 20% left. Regular use through out the day.

so I've figured the biggest culprit of battery drain is if you have the option for "wifi & mobile network location" turned on under location access.

Seriously considering this phone, but not sure if I can take the downgrade in battery life from my Maxx HD. Right now I'm 15h off the charger with 4hr 9m screen time and have 43% left (all on 4g, GPS on, auto brightness). But, the phone is just getting so slow that it's time for an upgrade. The new Maxx isn't worth $299 with the specs it has. Trying to decide between the Moto X, HTC One and the G2.

That suck's. I easily get 4 hours of on screen time. I average about 5. But the screen on the Note 2 isn't 1080p and it could be something that needs to be patched in a update.

I hope the G2 gets better. From what I've read the Note 3 gets better on screen time then the Note 2 and it uses the S800. So I don't see how the G2 averages 3 hours of on screen time.

You should consider the Note 3 as it will have amazing battery life and will be a powerhouse. Even for people that would never use the S-pen much. The Note 3 is a great phone.

The size of the G2 is pushing my limit. The Note 3 is even bigger, right? But thanks for the suggestion. Moto X feels fantastic in hand. G2 doesn't feel as good, but the screen is so awesome looking. Pretty much ruled out the HTC One because of the weird speakers on the front. I rarely ever listen to anything through the external speakers, so the design isn't really for me.

IDK, most people, myself included, are getting great battery life with the G2. It's hard to imagine the usage that would make this phone give up after a half day. I used it pretty moderately yesterday and from 8am to 10:30pm and it still had 54% left. Most owners seem amazed at the battery life.

I shall just post a pic! love this battery. this is on verizon

Just have to post this. I'm on my last few hours of using an HTC Rezound. Off charger for less than 4 hours. Drove 30 min to airport, phone in pocket, airlined 1.2 hrs to Denver. Phone in pocket.

Been on this msg board maybe 20 min and a few texts.
Phone is at 34%.

Ill be very happy when I can get through a day of normal use...
