Battery Life

It is a crying shame to release such a good phone that you won't even be able to make it through the day on a single battery charge! From what I am reading if you have an LTE signal, that will suck the battery even more! Being a Dinc user since day 1, my only complaint has been batter life. BIG downer that the TB won't have any better battery life and most likely will have LESS battery life than the Dinc. In my mind, that makes this phone useless! My eye is on the Moto Bionic right now for my first LTE phone.

Don't think the Bionic won't have the same battery issues when connected to LTE. LTE in general is absolutely horrifying on battery life, even if the Bionic has a bigger battery, I don't think it will make a huge difference.

My point is with the larger battery and dual core vs a phone with a smaller battery and single core the bionic will be better regardless of whether the phone is on 4g or 3g.

Interestingly enough My New EVO's battery out performs The Motorola gen4.. Which the same tech they will be using to capture the 4g crowd.. Honestly though, I think Verizon will loose more money than they will make trying to create another iphone killer.

black_man_x said the battery life of all the LTE devices is not that good:

Who is black_man_x you say? He's a member of Verizon's network team whose sole responsibility is to make sure the network can handle all the new devices. He's so deep on the inside that he himself has already had the Verizon iPhone in his pocket for a year now during testing. He also has the TB, the Bionic, and the new LG in hand and has been testing them as well

A recent tweet as of a few hours ago stated that he and the other testers received newer REVs for the TB and the LG, so perhaps some battery improvements are still being created, but as of right now it doesn't look too good

Also, for anyone interested, he wrote a poem last night (as he usually does) teasing when the TB and the Bionic would drop:

For the Android Heads.. a wee bit of poem… ? Life, politics and the confessions of a Tech addict…

In case you can't tell what that was saying, the TB is going to drop around St. Patrick's Day (mid-March) and the Bionic around Easter/Passover (April). Don't toss off what this guy says that easily, he's about as inside with Verizon as it gets

This does not bode well for the phones performance. The device mfg's need to think battery or consumers need to think extra battery or power outlet. I will likely get a 1750mAh battery, I just can't put those ugly bulging batteries on my phone and have it go from slim to brick.

Why would they be trying to create an iPhone killer now that the iPhone is being launched on their network?

I actually tried the phone for a long time at CES yesterday and today. I disconnected the charging cable and looked at the charge when I started using LTE on the show floor. The charge dropped by more than 20% in what was probably 20 minutes of use. I'd say that if you use LTE, you better have a charger nearby or a spare battery or 3.

HOLY ****. How are they releasing phones that are going to die so quick with the network??? I don't understand this. Now I'm scared to upgrade...

So you upgrade to the Seidio 1750 which powers my Dinc all day long. I'm getting a little sick of all this 'FAIL" comments if you don't like the specs don't buy the phone. I will be the first one in line on its launch day and after a month or so after I will be flashing some great Roms and kernels.

I have to agree, my initial reaction to the ThunderBolt was absolute disgust, and outrage given all the BS hype from HTC. Then I thought about it, and realized that I will likely use this until HTC launches Dual Cores next year and that compromise is necessary.

Do you want to swap your battery out when it runs out, you can't on the iPhone, do you want a larger battery, that is not a case? You can't on the iPhone. Do you want to be able to use any microUSB cable anywhere to charge? You can't on the iPhone. Etc, etc. etc. I had the iPhone, I sold it, I got smart and went back to Android.

The best part about Android is wait 30 days and a newer even hotter phone will hit, with Apple you wait 12 months for the unicorn blood to spill and then Jobs says we upgraded the FFC and isn't the "MAGICAL".

Mclarryjr...I currently have the 1750 battery in my DInc so, if that's the case, then I'm good. Are you feeling confident that the battery in the Bolt will be the same dimensions as the DInc?

Everyone complaining about the size of the battery in the phone should be directing their anger towards the battery makers and not the phone makers. I forget who mentioned it earlier in this thread but the phone makers (not just htc) are stuck between making a nice looking slim phone and providing enough battery life to make it through a day with normal usage. You want more battery life, get a larger battery. At least you have that option. With todays battery technology, you simply cannot have a slim phone with long battery life, it just wont happen. Im seriously tired of hearing all the complaining about it, people are expecting waay too much from batteries right now.

If you are in fact the first one in line, I will be hanging on to your coat tails so as not to get lost in the mob! My wife has a custom splash screen ready to go, now all I need is the phone...

And yes, the FAIL comments are wearing out on me, too.

I'm hoping they make some changes to the 1400 battery before its released so we don't even need to get an extended battery. I'm having a hard time believing HTC would release a phone with a extremely poor battery (worse then Evo or Dinc). If its the same as the Dinc I won't have any problems but wouldn't mind if they beef it up :) We are going to just have to wait and see.

I'll bring the coffee ;)

seriously the whining is out of control...either get the phone like it and keep it...hate it, sell it on ebay to pay cancellation fee and get new ****

the fricken incredible is still selling for about 300 on ebay

I still call Fail. Not speaking about the entire phone, but about a specific feature. I love htc and there phones but when you give us a phone with terrible battery life, i will complain. For reasons such as, my 1750 battery fit in my inc without an extra case, so why not ship the phones with it? Or a battery close to it?

i guess i may have to go to droid bionic cause that is gonna sport a 1930 mAh battery. i like HTC but how can they put a 1400 mAh battery with
that huge screen after the incredible battery

dont get me wrong i love me incredible and i changed my settings and my battery lasts me enough for my needs

I wouldn't change my Dinc for any Moto phone on the market now even if they had 1930 mAh battery. I'm not trying to say anything bad about the X or any other phone but I like Sense and wouldn't change it for anything.
