I hate battery life threads, but I got my G7 Thurs afternoon and battery has been pretty disappointing.
Unfortunately under battery, the LG home launcher is the biggest culprit, at times showing as 30%. Even if I'm using a different launcher it still shows up number 1 on the list.

I'm guessing there is a way to use ADB to debloat or disable some of the apps.

Aside from that, really happy with the phone.

You are not the only one, Tom's Guide seems to be seeing the same thing with their G7

I had the v30 prior and was pretty pleased with battery life on that.
Hopefully things just settle in and battery gets better.

Can I ask why did you decide to go from the V30 to the G7? From what I understand there is no real benefit which is why I was struggling with the decision myself.

I got the v30 back in October. My wife at the time had the Moto z2. After a few months, she wanted the v30 so we swapped. I'm not a big Samsung fan and despite the bum deal I think LG gets, I like the phones they make.

how did the note 8 get better battery life than s9 plus? s9 plus has bigger battery and better software optimization with the SD845 (unless this was the other chipset)

Yesterday wasn't a full day, and spent time setting up the phone etc. Now that everything is set up, charged it up full overnight, I'll see how it does in terms of battery life today. I have plenty of other phones lying around so will be comparing to them. If it gets thru the day then no issues.

Yeah that's surprising and not my experience having used both of them. Most of these tests are not normal usage tests I believe, it's running videos continuously, doing certain things in a loop etc. Doesn't take into account how some phones handle standby, various network conditions, memory management etc.
While these tests are useful and give some reference point, it's not the whole story.

Have only been using mine for 24 hours so still settling in but I'd say that battery is a mixed bag so far. Standby is decent and better than the S9+ but it does seem to drop a little more under actual use. Better though than the smaller S9 on both counts

Overall I think battery looks fine albeit certainly not as great as some bigger phones.

Interesting. I notice that your battery usage starts don't show Google Play Services. On my G7, Google Play Services is taking up a big Chuck on my battery.
Hmm yeah not sure, I tried to check in my other phones as well and I didn't see Google play services show up on any of them. Also, I'm not doing anything different. My google account sync is all set to default automatic, location services set to high accuracy. Basically everything left at the setting how it came out of the box just like all my other phones.

Also, for what it's worth I'm on play services beta from long time. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Interesting. How does one get on the Beta? I might have to give it a shot because compared to other Android phones I own, the Play Services drain on the G7 is unusually high and, frankly, disappointing.

Search for Google play services from settings. Once you select Google play services, scroll all the way down and click on app details, that should take you to the Google play store. In there scroll all the way down and check if you have option to enroll into beta.

I wouldn't be surprised if battery life turns out to be quite average.

A smaller-than-usual battery coupled with a bright display and a high-end processor isn't going to do wonders for battery.

It will probably get you through a day, but don't expect more.
