Battery percentage and restarting problem

my iphone 5 doesn't update the battery percentage and shows the same percenteage until battery exhausts. If the iphone is restarted the battery percentage become recent but then the phone starts restarting frequently. I can't figure why this is happening, can anyone help me out with this issue???

Have you tried a hard reset? (Hold both the home and the standby button for 10 secs. Your iPhone then will perform a complete restart - as opposed to a "normal" restart).

I don't have an answer for you, Paul. Sorry. My teenager recently acquired a secondhand iPhone 5s from a family member. The device has exactly the same issues you describe. I've hunted high and low, and have not discovered anything helpful. Have you had any success in the few months since your post? Cheers.
