Another reason why I like sticking with Samsung. Not because I can't do without Samsung (I mostly use MS services and apps), but because I have more choices.

I'm finding that everything about these phones is a trade-off. If you want email & msgs with numbers not dots, don't get a Pixel. If you want the earliest & bloat-free OS upgrades, don't get a Samsung or any other android phone, get a Pixel! I believe that the companies involved do these things on purpose, to gain favor with their fan bases.
