Well yeah I only put my phone in airplane mode to conserve battery or overnight. But I'm wondering if I really shouldn't use my phone on all night and use it as a clock..
Honestly the only thing I wouldn't do (as long as you live in an area with decent signal) is leave the screen on for any reason (say if its on charger but you aren't using it.) If you have crap signal in your bedroom I would use airplane mode or make sure it's plugged in. I have let my phone sit overnight off charger several times, and with everything running normally (email sync, AIM, twitter, gps, etc) it doesn't seem to drain at all (maybe 15% over 8 hours). That's coming from someone who has complained vociferously about how lousy his battery life is... It seems when the thing is on my nightstand it hardly drains at all but if its riding around in my pocket it will be dead in 8 hours.
