I agree with you totally. Thats basically the same issues I have with the s4. Too many gimmicks. Sense 5 is a lot snappier than TW. Keyboard on s4 is crap too. Even typing this I keep correcting words. Doesnt happen on htc . Been looking for replacement keyboards. Thanks for all your help. Ive just been a Samsung fan for years and im a Samsung ambassador and just kinda sick of the same old thing. Ive had 6 s3 and 5 note 2 and they are all the same. Htc is nice and different.

I actually liked the S4's keyboard much more than I did the S3 mainly because of the number row on top. I would try Swift Key, A.I. type, Swype and finally Google Keyboard if it's available for the S4 (I am sure it is) - Google Keyboard is great especially for me as I tend to type a lot of Franco-Arab (a sort of made up language that doesn't have any dictionaries) and setting the autocorrection on "Modest" doesn't annoy me as it does on any other keyboard.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have formatted it and that didn't help. I tried unlocking the bootloader and it wasn't working so I gave up. Seems way more difficult than Samsung to root. It's too much hassle and time consuming to put a custom Rom on it. It took 2 hours and I got nowhere unlocking the bootloader. If the battery was better I wouldn't use my s4 but I'm forced to and that's annoying.

The HTC one is actually rather simple to mod once you understand everything.

I could take a new one out of the box and have it running a custom ROM in 15-20 min.

I'm working on a guide that should be pretty straight forward. I'll send you the link when I finish with it.
