Battery settings

Does anyone know how I can remove the stock battery icon from my notification bar?Since I'm using a third party battery app that has it's own icon I certainly don't need duplicate info in that small a space

That cannot be done unless you're rooted and want to mess around with the framework. I don't even know for sure if you can do it then and I would strongly advise that you don't do that until there is a .sbf file to use if anything goes wrong.

If (when) we get custom ROMs, some of the ROM chefs change the battery icon to display the percentage on the actual stock battery icon.

I am the IT mgr of a mfg. company. Our president has gone from a Blackberry to the Droid X late last week, this weekend he noticed that the unit was very hot when he took it from his hip case and that the battery was very very low even after charging it over night. What are folks using to close unused apps and see what processes are running to be able to turn off the unused items?

If his hip case has a magnetic closure, that might be activating dock mode which keeps the screen on all the time. He can try turning the phone so that the screen side is closest to the magnets and see if that helps.

I have a hip case with a magnetic closure but my phone also has a hard case on it, between that and keeping the screen side toward the magnet I don't have a problem with it going into dock mode.

I had terrible battery life from droid x straight out of the box. I let it charge fully to 100% then found it to last 5 hrs with about maybe 1 hour total of browsing.

I let it drain fully then charged x 2 cycles, found little improvement.

Gps off, wifi off, bluetooth off, background data off, social network.sync only over wifi,

Now i do have twitter widget updating every 2 hrs, pure calendar refresh every 12 hours.

No ATK, and would never install it

Then i found juice defender from market place and put it on yesterday..

My droid x lasted 12 hrs with HEAVY USE im talking about web browsing at least 2 hours, playing Find it game for about an hour total, using twitter and text msg, GPS for Where app and redboxer app, youtube app maybe an hour total, downloaded and installed 4 apps too. I didn't make many phone calls though, so i'll have to see how it performs with that

Either way, im Very pleased wit juice defender, would highly recommend to those with crapy batt life like i was getting

Just a heads up for you, users have reported HEAVY battery drainage with the 'Pure' widget series. You might even want to try taking that off for a day and see if it improves even more.

Yeah i've read abt the pure widgets getting a lot of comlaints abt draining battery life. I looked at the dev's site and he claimed that it drains approx 2% battery per 8 hours

Now i haven't personally tried to see whether my batt life improved with the pure calendar widg removed vs on, but i can't see how a calendar would drain more than the dev claimed? Either way i love the way they look. I suppose i shoul look into this though
