Battery usage stats force close observation

I know Motorola is aware of the FC issue on the battery usage stats on the Droid X running 2.2. However, I noticed something on mine that I haven't seen written about yet.

None of the observations others have posted seem to quite fit what I'm seeing. Some people say if they wait to check the stats for an hour or so after unplugging, they are fine. Waiting half the day doesn't even always work for me. However, I started noticing that sometimes I'll have the FC while at work, then when I get home, it works just fine. After trying to figure this out for a while, I think it might be related to whether or not I'm connected to WiFi, or whether WiFi has been sitting on for a while with no active connection. I'm going to try to figure this out, but if this rings any bells for anyone else, please post.

Building on this earlier observation, I may have found a work-around to the Force Close issue. Yesterday after I got the FC, I turned my Wifi on (as stated earlier, this tends to happen to me more at work where i keep Wifi off, as opposed to at home where it is on). That didn't fix it. Then I realized I had GPS off, and I normally have it on. I turned it on. Bingo, I could get into the battery usage stats.

Today, I had Wifi off and GPS on and got the FC. I turned Wifi on, then turned the first two check boxes for GPS off (the third was already off), exited out of settings, went back in, and turned the first two GPS check mark boxes back on. Bingo, back into the battery usage stats.

Two days in a row isn't proof, but I figured it was enough to warrant posting this for others.

I realize Motorola has a fix for it, but who knows how long it will take them to release it, and I'm really trying to figure out what's sucking up my battery, so I want to have this feature.

Nevermind. I just proved myself wrong. Must have been a coincidence two days in a row....or there's another step that I'm doing that I haven't realized yet.

Ha, thank you for posting this. When I first got my Droid 2 the battery manager worked, then it randomly stopped working and always force closed. I saw you post, turned GPS on (I had Wifi on already), and it worked.

No problem. Mine has been fine since they pushed out the update for the Droid X a couple weeks ago. I hope they do the same for yours.
