My battery seemed to have been working great up until early this week. But 4 nights in a row, my phone went from 100% to 20% in a matter of 3 hours with very light usage! Can anyone help?

I installed watchdog, nothing alerted me during the massive drains.
Nothing seems unusual to me in SpareParts, but I'm not sure I know how to read spare parts correctly.
The phone also seems to have been getting pretty hot.

I'm running Cyanogen 6.0 (haven't made the jump to 6.1 yet) on the OG Droid.

Thank you in advance for anyones help.

Try rebooting the phone. If the battery is getting really hot with light usage something is most likely running in the background.

Are you using any apps that use gps or wifi...any bad reception problems?

Thank you for the quick response! I rebooted my phone and I even attempted calibrating the battery again by draining it all the way so it will shut off and charging it to 100% again. same thing happened.

I do have apps that use gps, but they are the standard apps that use it when it is called (foursquare, google maps, etc) I did not call on any of them at the time.

Wifi is automatically turned off with tasker when I get in my car. So it shouldnt have been on, but i did double check this on the second day and it was off.

I am still having the battery issues today. I unplugged my phone at 8am, 4 hours later I'm at 50% :-(

How long have you had the phone/battery? Batteries do have a lifespan and I know mine was starting to die out because I charged it every night for a year now.

I did buy the Seidio 1500 mAh battery from the Android Central store

I've had it from when I first got the Droid so about 13 months. I dont think its the batterys health though since this problem just started this week. Usually if its a battery health issue, the problem is progressive...or am i wrong about that?

Holy battery batman!

I read somewhere else to look at usage time on SpareParts, and my phone may not be going to sleep when idle.

here are my 2 highest usage times:

Gmail 10293099ms
LauncherPro 4772434ms

Could one of these be causing it? BTW it is now 4.5 hours later and i am down to 20%!!

I was having this issue as well and when I rebooted the phone it would gain anywhere from 20-50% battery life. It may be something with CM6 I don't know. I upgraded to CM6.1.2 last night and the battery seems to be draining at a normal rate. Are you overclocked? I heard that Slayer's kernels do something to make the processes run in the background. (Not sure if I said that right). So I switched to P3Droid 125-1000 LV kernel and it seemed to have made a big difference.

Thanks pstellato I will try the P3Droid Kernel now.

I tried switching to the cyanogen 6.1.2 rom last night with rom manager, but noticed a lot of my apps were missing after i did that. So I restored back to 6.0, but i will try that one again later tonight.

I might have been remembering things incorrectly, but I did find a great article someone wrote on a different android forum about batteries and when you should charge them.

If you're interested it should be the first result if you search for "Lithium Polymer Batteries 101"

thanks splonkin thats pretty helpful actually

@pstellato I upgraded the rom and changed the kernel and it may have done it. Its been 2 hours with light to medium usage from a full charge im down to 80%. well done sir :D
