BB status now "on backorder"

My BB order status changed today as well from "release 18th", to "Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 1 - 2 days."
The dock however states "Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 7 - 14 days.".
Also, the option to cancel has been removed.

OK, I finally broke down and just called the 888 number.
Apparently, go figure, they have been flooded with calls about this matter all morning. I got a confident and hopefully accurate answer. Here is the gist of my conversation with a BB rep.
Me: I preordered the Transformer Prime and my order status now says backordered.
BB rep: We have been getting calls all morning about this. What has happened is the release date of the Transformer Prime is set to tomorrow. Your order would have shown today. The system is one day behind thus the "backordered" notice.
Me: Are you sure?
BB rep: Yes. If your order was unable to be fulfilled you would have received an email stating your order had be canceled.
Me: Are you sure? In the FAQ it said BB would hold my order for 30 days on backorder before canceling.
BB rep: Not with a preorder.
Me: You sure?
BB rep: Yes.
Me: You're not just blowing smoke up my ass?
BB rep No.
Me: Do online orders take priority over B&M orders?
BB rep: Yes. All preorders will be fulfilled before any orders from B&M stores receive shipments. Meaning you can not walk into a B&M and pick one up tomorrow if preorders are sold out.

edit: I would just like to add, all I'm seeing is statuses reading, "Order in process of being fulfilled. Usually ships in..." I'm not seeing anyone saying it has shipped or they have received a shipping conformation or tracking number. Tracking# = done deal.

I preordered mine in early December and it also now says backordered just as of today. Anyone know if Best Buy is going to have any in store?
I just went to my nearby bestbuy store...I got the manager to research it and he found that it is now scheduled to ship on 1/8/12. I was/am speechless here :'( And I just checked....my order status still says "backordered" and I have not received an email from bestbuy.

yeahh now i kinda regret i didnt preorder two transformers from amazon or tiger direct. on ebay they are being bid up to $700 and more... lol
So the rumor about it not being in stores until after 1/8/12 seem to be true. Was just about to head to BB until i saw your post. I went last night & the female rep was no help at all. It seemed as if she was trying to avoid having to answer any question I was going to ask about the Prime. As long as it comes before 1/24/12 & i can return the TF-101 I bought may wife for Xmas, I'm all good.
For those of you showing the order is being processed, did it first say it was backordered or did it go straight to what it says now?

This is absolutely frustrating. I can't figure out exactly who to blame for this debacle of a launch & constant delays by Asus. One would think Asus have learned from their past mistake, be prepared, and take advantage of all the hype/buzz. One would think Asus will try to sell as many units as possible before next years CES (mid Jan.) where their potential rivals reveal their next set of tablets (rumors with some having higher resolution, more ram.. and that iPad 3 on the horizon).
Orders are being backordered, or being cancelled.. or each retail store/customer service/store manager all handing out different info about availability. The earliest.. supposedly, that I will receive my Prime is mid. Jan according to the calls & visits to the stores I have made. If that is the case, is it about time I think about just cancelling my order & wait for CES to see what other next gen. tablets have to offer?

That is a great idea. EVERYONE CANCEL THEIR ORDER. Then I'll move further up the list and get mine sooner!
I just noticed that my checking account has a new preauth charge from Best Buy for the prime. It just showed up within the last hour. I am not sure if this is good news or not. Checked my order status and it still shows on backorder. I have not got any emails from Best Buy except the original confirmation when I first ordered it. I just happen to be in the area of our local Best Buy so i stopped in. The manager said "As far as he knows they might be getting them in tonight and start selling them tomorrow." He also mentioned he hasn't heard any new news on the prime status for awhile and nobody tells them what is going on until they get the product. I have come to the conclusion that nobody at Best Buy have the slightest clue what is going on.
Ordered mine on 11/30 in champagne gold and I am getting a backorder status too. Does anyone think color has something to do with it? I noticed if you check Best Buy's site right now you can't even pull up the champagne gold version, only gray.
Possibly, but it may also have to do with when you ordered. I ordered both colors and have backorderd for both. However, my order wasn't until 12/2.
I too got a pending transaction from 12/18 on my credit card. BB does not charge your credit card unless the order is in process. I am pretty confident that it will ship very soon. I ordered 12/2. Hope to see you all in the other side...soon.
My order was for the gray one and I am on backorder also. It is odd though that all BB is showing now is the grey on their website. I ordered mine on 12/2 after amazon decided to cancel my order.
My email set the ship date of the tablet to be today(Sunday) and the keyboard Monday.... So, I'm hopeful I pre-ordered the first day if that matters.
