Be honest, after Samsung made a bold move with the hardware, don't you wish LG did the same?

I'll get it out of the way. If for whatever reason LG couldn't add these two.

1. Removable Battery is convenient but I probably used it 2-3 times...in Las Vegas.

2. Expandable Storage. Again it's nice but not the end of the world for me I just wish Samsung didn't charge Apple money for it. :)

Don't get me wrong I love the G3 and I'm sure the G4 as well but I haven't been using cases (except at work) for almost 2 years now and love the build quality of what we've been getting.

Not sure what your point is ad everything lg did was better right?

OK I will be honest with you.

Personally I don't like either of the Samsung s6's.

I think the edge is ugly and the the regular s6 is just a iPhone copy.

Don't get me wrong they both have top notch spec's but neither wow me nor do I have any plans on buying one.

From what I have read Samsung is locking the bootloader with 5.1 which makes the phones, even more undesirable to me and added to this the lack of removing the SD card when the standards have been raised with the latest Qualcom Soc to 2TB and then raping you for their internal memory really irks me.

So I am not jealous or wishing for a new Samsung phone nor really care about them in any way. While they have nice hardware, there is a great looking and great feeling phone called the LG g4 that I am excited about that I do plan on buying do out soon that will have what I like on it that many s6 owners will wished they waited for.

I'm so glad LG didn't follow Samsung or HTC!

I never liked the look of the HTC One with its metal body and front speakers. For one the speakers make the phone too big for its screen size, the metal bodies will dent etc and I just don't like the look.

As far as Samsung, the last thing I want is a glass back! The metal frame is a great idea and would be cool if LG used one but it's far from a deal breaker.

So I'm very happy with what LG did and can't wait to have one with a larger back in my hand.

Bold move? Can't reboot a frozen phone with a boot image on the SD card? "Bold" isn't the word I'd use.

Send my phone away for a week and pay $45 to have a $15 battery replaced. I wouldn't call that bold either.

Add locked bootloaders and Knox and I'd call it "wanting to lose the entire geek customer base". Marketing and the pooch had an affair over this one.

If LG does the same thing, I just won't buy another phone until Ara phones are available.

I see nothing wrong with keeping these features. To a degree, one can argue it is better to have them and not use them, than not having them at all.

Will I use the Sd card option? No. I don't have a card in my M8, and have become used to not using it. I don't want to be concerned over a card that can fail. I have everything set up so that my photos are backed up automatically, and I keep a small selection of songs (~150), and that works for me.

The removable battery can be looked at as a plus in regard to the device lasting longer than 2 years. By this time next year, pick up a couple extras at probably half off, and you are good to go.

From my point of view, LG is still helping Android be unique by offering a device that has these options.

Nah. I'm glad LG didn't follow the same route as Samsung. There's a lot more variety for us in the Android space that way :)

I thought the S6 Edge was really good looking. I wanted to get it but several things turned me off:
1. The (higher) price - it's much higher than the normal S6 option
2. Lack of MicroSD card slot - personal preference to have expandable storage
3. Lackluster battery life (although I'll have to wait for more reviews on the G4's one but removable battery helps with that) - 3-4hrs SOT
4. Screen - Even though many people keep saying the screen is awesome; I don't really agree with it. It's sharp (that's definitely awesome) but the colours are so... warm. Everything is so warm and yellowy. When compared to the G4's screens, you can really see the difference. I think the default wallpaper and LG skin is terrible though haha.

I loved the G3 the only 2 things that weren't perfect was the screen and the battery could have been better but both were acceptable. I love that LG is sticking with the Consumer on SD card and removable battery for that they should be applauded.

I don't understand why people obsess over metal phones and, after owning a Nexus 4, I will never own another phone with a glass back. It's no fun feeling lie your phone is extra fragile and then it just cracking anyway.

I agree and know that I have seen more messed up iphones because of this. The metal backs are OK but mine is in a case more than not, and I worry about it getting scratched or dinged.

This one with a leather back will pose it's own problems but I am sure that I won't be as worried about it when carrying it naked.

Short answer NO! I do wish it had quick charge and if I'm wishing here lets add waterproofing too.

Not sure what bold move you are talking about? the removal of hardware features that set them apart? catching up to the rest of the world on charging, and camera? then the decision to slap some thin metal and glass on it cause it makes it "look pretty" but all those pretty looks get covered up the second you put a case on it.

Personally LG would have had to work very hard to make me happier with the G4

as to the "premium materials"

metal just by the nature of how it will be used and how thin the overall unit is, the metal will be super thin and pron to bending and denting, you bend or dent metal, and it is permanent, you do the same thing to plastic, it will return to its prior state no harm done. Advantage plastic.

glass, well, its GLASS these things have had screens for years that can splinter from a drop of just a few inches, sure the "tests" make it look like it will survive high falls, but real world shows otherwise, it slips out of your pocket when getting into or out of your car, and the s6's will not only have broken glass on the screen, but also the back, and a dented metal band around the side, drop a plastic phone, it might have a scratch. Advantage plastic

and if you counter the above by adding a case, then they all look the same anyway cause you wont see the "premium" materials anyway

In my opinion, I'm glad LG stayed away from glass all around like they had on the Optimus G. Not for me. Not for the iPhone folk who drop and smash the front and back of the phone either.

I really don't like the s6 build that much. The edge is really sort of pointless, and the regular s6 doesn't look much different than earlier samsung phones. When I went to look at them at best buy I was fairly disappointed in that it just looked like other samsung phones. Then the camera bump is a problem too.

It would be different if they put a bigger battery and made the camera flush or slightly recessed.

And I am just not a fan of glass on the back of a phone. Never saw the benefit. The fact that the battery is not replaceable and no sd card are just insult to injury.

I still may buy the s6 if the G4 camera doesn't hold up to scrutiny, but I would be putting a case on the s6 which I hate to do, so it is kind of frustrating.

Just to be fair to the convo I have to ask ... Isn't the LG design the same so.. basically the G4 looks like the G3 .. just like Samsung phones looking a like? Just didn't see how that complaint is valid when majority of the phones around look similar to their predecessor and are (usually) never drastically different.

Fair enough, but with everyone going on about the bold new design, I just wasn't impressed with the difference, particularly using glass and exposed camera module. Plus, I have owned samsung phones in the past. Currently have the HTC M7 which I will replace with my next phone. I actually adore the M7. The metal construction feels solid, the curve feels good in the hand. I didn't get that feeling with the s6. It felt overly thin, way too flat, and very light (which for some may be a good thing, but too light in my opinion). And when looking at it, I just felt like it was not really more attractive then other Samsung phones.

So TL/DR, the thread title doesn't match with my experience.

I bought an s6 the day it came out. Wanted to love it. Ended up returning it 7 days later. The design was a non event for me. The thing is all glass. If you don't put it in a case, you're going to crack it at some point. Once it's in a case, it looks and feels just like any other galaxy phone. Metal is undetectable

Oh and the battery life was horrendous. If you're going to make a battery that small, you need to be able to swap it out. I don't think I will ever buy another Samsung phone St this rate

I'll wait till I have one in hand before choosing a winner. Removable battery is a big plus. Aesthetics aren't very important to me. Battery, camera and display are my biggest concerns. Nova will get thrown on either device. Leaning towards G4
