After owning it a bit, would you have preferred if they had kept the 16.9 ratio? I returned mine, i personally felt it cost too much for what it was, but i see so much praise for the device i wonder if any of y'all felt same way AT FIRST and are you now, "so accustomed to it, to the point where, you wouldn't have it any other way?"

Just curious....thinking maybe i just didn't keep it long enuf to adjust to it, but for the 3 days i had it every time i saw that tall stringy beany phone staring up at me i was like, "eeeesh, girl, you look anorexic"... :-* lol

The aspect ratio doesn't matter to me... I like the taller screen it works will for my needs. When I turn it sideways the black bars don't bother me any since they blend in with the small black bezels anyhow.

I would have liked it that bit wider, but I really do enjoy it. I came from the Note 7 then that phones "settled for" s7edge. Didn't like s7edge it was too narrow and rather glitchy

Well being honest.. either would be fine. I'm fine with this since this phone is easy to hold but I still get a big screen with tons of information.

I would of liked it a bit wider. 16:9 would of been nice but I love how videos on YouTube look when it fits the whole screen.

My iPhone 7+ feels like an old school TV now that I am used to the S8 screen ratio lol.

I love this new ratio. Makes phones easier to hold too. This should be the future

I thought I would like it and I actually like it more than I thought I would. It gives me more real estate for my apps that scroll (internet, mail, etc.) which I really like and I love watching videos on it. The black bars are not really noticeable with the black bezel - and it actually creates a bezel to hold (haha) but being able to crop to fit when I want to is great. 18:9/18.5/9 is here to stay I feel. The Note will probably be a little wider but retain the 18:9 ratio I think, as the Note is usually thought of more as a two handed device with the stylus so being wider seems to make sense, but the S8/S8+ I think is at the sweet spot for holding it in one hand (as was the S7e).

I was kind of nervous because of the screen size by the small bezel thing worked in my favor love my S8

I actually love it. I use excel for work quite a bit and it is great in landscape for my documents.

I think the aspect ratio is awesome. I worried about it being too tall, but it's great and this phone fits in the hand so well. I had the LG G6 and I liked the size of that too. Both the G6 and the S8 are so much screen in a smaller footprint. I hated the iPhone 7 plus and the Pixel XL with their huge bezels and the V20 was great, but too damned big. I think Samsung nailed it. I think the S8 plus is too big for me, but this S8 is just right. The bonus is, I'm getting 4.5 hours of SOT with this thing. The QC835 must be extremely efficient. Loving it

At first I do admit to a bit of buyers remorse. Side by side next to my S7E it looked a little too narrow. However, I've really gotten used to it and would have a hard time going back to a wider phone. I REALLY like how much easier it is to use one handed.

As far as aspect, I would prefer a 16:9 under certain circumstances. While no one would agree since everyone else seems obsessed with carrying around small tablets, my perfect phone would have been a shorter, 16:9 S8 along with a 16:9 camera at top resolution. You'd still have a roughly 5.5" screen in a really tight package.

My only real complaint using it daily is that the top resolution of the camera is 4:3, and on a 18:9 screen photos look stupid.

^ This +1.

I've not really come across anything that's made me think about this....well apart from your thread ! Lol. ;)

I would have prefered 16:9. I thought I'd be using the screen to see more stuff, but when I'm reading things I always drag the part I'm reading into the center of the page anyway so I'm not really getting that much use out of the extra height other than it sticking further out of my pocket and me not being able to reach the top holding it with 1 hand.
