Be Honest! As Much As You Love Your S8/S8+...

Screen ratio does not bother me at all. If the phone was 16:9, the + version would be too wide to hold comfortably.

I do wish the top camera resolution was 16:9 and not 4:3 because the photos would look better when you upload them to your computer or TV. Maybe they can fix that in a software update.

Screen aspect ratio is a total non-issue. I love having a device with so much screen real estate on a device not much larger than the one that I owned last year. Having a nearly six inch diagonal would have been too big normally when I have gotten used to a 5.1 inch screen that my iPhone loving son thinks is huge. Eventually content that fits the new screen ratio will find its way to being published.

Im kinda shocked the black bars don't bother more people considering they bother most people when seen on a big screen tv...

I was a little on the fence but after using it for a week i wont go back. I came from iPhone6. I love my s8.

Probably because of the “infinity” screen. Just seems like a bezel because the front of the phone is black anyway.

A smart phone is used for so much more. The extra height can be useful for many things, including split screen and for when the keyboard is using the lower portion.
I don't have an S8 - waiting for Note. I'd prefer 16/9 just for the extra screen, but my phone serves a lot more functions for me than my TV, and black bars on media would be no big deal.
I'm hoping the Note is as tall as the S8+ and 16/9. Not because I care about black bars, but because I have big hands and want as much screen as I can get (and a Pen). I run my job from my phone.

I would have liked it that bit wider, but I really do enjoy it. I came from the Note 7 then that phones "settled for" s7edge. Didn't like s7edge it was too narrow and rather glitchy

I agree.....it could be a little wider...but that is just my user preference.

I really like this phone a lot :-)

I think with any new phone/phone features, there will be a a bit of an adjustment period - especially if you're platform/manufacturer jumping. When I jumped from BlackBerry to Android a few years ago, it took me a while to get used to everything. I think that's normal. :)

OP, what phone did you grab instead of the S8?/+?

No regrets here with my S8+. I had the S7 Edge and I was ready for something different. The screen ratio is actually a welcomed change in that it allows for better multi-window use, without things seeming too compact. As for the multimedia aspect of it, black bars shouldn't be an issue if you're truly enjoying the media you're watching. Black bars only become an issue when the quality of the media file is sub par. Either way, I'm glad they went away from 16:9 (even if for this model only), as it is another step in the right direction of innovation.

I wish the curves were not there and was a flat display with normal corners. More legible surface and much easier to protect the display then.

I haven't bought it but tried it out at the store and it's definitely not for me. I love my S7 but the S8 is proper phablet now and there's no phone-sized device from Samsung anymore which is fine for those who like that. But it's not for me.

I had the iPhone 7 Plus for several months, but after using the S8+ for the last four days, I much prefer it to the iPhone 7 Plus. The 7 Plus has features I like better, like the LCD screen, the 256GB storage, and force touch, but the S8+ has more features that work better for me. I love the IP68 rating, the three different forms of biometric phone unlocking, the microSD slot, wireless charging, and I get much clearer calls phone calls. I live in a "garden level" apartment and I don't have the static like I did on the iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus just seems outdated when next to the S8+.

i actually just got A5 2016... Works perfect with Sammy Pay and i get full functionality of my Gear S3, never see a fingerprint! i know its no flagship but its so full of features and i just love the design, rose gold color and cost ($260 brandy new : ) so for now it will more than do till a more "chunky monkey" Samsung phone comes along....

and yes, i know (sigh) one may not, considering the direction they seem to be taking, but hopefully their mid-range line will still be a little fatter & cheaper, i used to be a "i HAVE to have a state of the art phone" sorta gal, but Note 7 & S8+ have sorta put the "kabash" on that, (at least for now) so with mid rangers offering up pretty great experiences these days, that's prolly where you'll find me...

Thanks for all the replies y'all, i guess for me its slimness is just something i wouldn't of adapted to, seeing how NONE of y'all were like "omg!! too skinny!!" y'all all seemed to be pretty much "take it or leave it, AT FIRST, and now most of y'all would prefer it...

not me, tho, i think its going to take me YEARS to adapt to it, i'm pretty sure, cuz it drove me nutz!! The entire 3 days of ownership i kept shaking my fists looking up at the Sammy G*ds and wuz like, "why?! why?! why?! You were perfect BEFORE this design!!

I wish it was just a little wider. The screen ratio isn't perfect and has some screen clipping going on.
