I just bought Beautiful widgets and when I goto download skins it says "Loading Skins List". Doesnt update and doesnt show me anything. It just sits there forever saying that. Any reccomendations on what I should do? And please dont say - Wait... Ive waited for over an hr and it still sits there saying it.
The server he bases it on wasn't designed to handle that level of traffic. He says he is upgrading soon.
Get the latest update 2.88 and you will be SURPRISED at how fast it is now. The text part of the Server Skins List is almost instantanous. Not sure how Tama did it but it is impressive.
Also there is now an option to delete downloaded skins and even a button to visit the websites of the skin authors. Another fantastic update from Tama that shows he listens to all of us.

OK, Tama had a few issues with HTC but once they saw he was coding his widget from scratch they were more than cool with him. They were just looking out for their IP with Sense UI.
IPs are totally different to copyrights in as much as you have to defend them all the time or lose your legitimate claim to them, which means they would investigate anything that looks like it might break their IP coz if they let just one thing past without challenge, then they would lose their IP.
Copyright is yours as soon as you create something artistic, photographic or literary and remain with you and your estate until up to 70 years after your death...
We won't say any more about Tama's little misunderstanding with HTC as they dealt with him fairly once they had verified the originality of his code.

At one point afterwards, it seemed like HTC was almost helping Tama with some things. So I'd say they're definitely on the even now.
Ok I'm new to BW and I have some questions. I have a Eris and got this to get the nice skins but I can't find them so where do I get them. Also the widget isn't updating properly the clock in the top corner will say 8:00 for instance and the widget will say 7:58 it will take a while to catch up anyone know how to fix this.

On page 16 there is a BW skin called "Naked Droid". It looks really sharp and I like it a lot. I'm thinking of purchasing BW. But how come this screen has a different app drawer button (the square of tiny boxes instead of the big square with the vertical arrow)? Is this a part of the BW skin? I've seen a bunch of different looking home screens on different pictures posted in this thread and have never seen them before (like a bunch of tiny apps on the bottom, etc). Are these things custom as a part of BW skins? Or is there a different app to allow that to happen?

The Multi Square app drawer icon, and the "tiny apps" is part of Helix LAuncher. Beautiful Widgets is mainly the time and weather overlay with the additional GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi widgets.. i dont believe it that it changes the overall look of the droid otherwise..

That's true. Beautiful widgets doesn't change the look of the operating system at all. The skins you can apply change only the look of the clocks on beautiful widgets.
To get the app drawer icon like the Nexus One has (the 3x3 grid), check out some various home replacements on the market, like HelixLauncher.
I would like to learn how to make these can anyone post a link to the program or give me the link on how to make themes like these? (I'm using an Eris)
chdtpn, you can use any program you'd like (photoshop, gimp, etc). Download a skin inside the widget and then go to /sdcard/data/beautifulwidgets/skins and look in the various skin folders. That should give you a pretty good idea of what each skin consists of. You can then copy one of the skin folders and rename it to make your own. Rename and edit the text file also.
