Been using my wife's $90 android phablet running KitKat...better than my $400 phone on MM

I've been messing around on my wife's back-up $90 chinese phablet running KitKat, and I've noticed overall it's almost identical to MessMallow in layout, including the settings and available options. It has everything my phone has with MM except it works a LOT better. I saw a chart somewhere showing the breakdown of android devices running different OS, and the majority were on KitKat (the least being on Lollipop and MM). I also read and was told KitKat was the most stable.

Which begs the question......why?
All I can say is N better be pretty darn good or I'm moving on

Doesn't google pay attention to any of this stuff? Or are they like microshaft, too big to care anymore because they know we'll buy it regardless?

What $400 phone are you comparing it with? Are both devices running the exact same apps? It's difficult to compare two completely different devices in this way, since it's possible the phone has some app that is bogging things down, while the phablet doesn't have it.

The added features and improvements in Marshmallow compared with prior versions would probably make for a fairly lengthy article (of which there are many), but I would point to important security additions, like Smart Lock (which was actually a Lollipop feature, but not in KitKat) and more granular control over Permissions. Personally, I have found Marshmallow to work very smoothly on my Nexus devices.

I assume your phone was updated to Marshmallow from some previous version--that might also be a significant factor if it's not a Nexus device. The various tweaks the manufacturer and carrier have to make in order to have the update play nice with all of their added "features" (aka bloat) can sometimes lead to glitchiness or decreased performance. The advantage of a Nexus device is that the Android system updates are essentially optimized already for it, since there's no additional bloat.

i didn't use any marshmellow device as my primary driver....running miui over kit kat feels soo good ...miui also has doze feauture which consumes almost 0% battery in 10hrs standby(with wifi off) ....i dont find any valid reason to upload to mm ..

You're drawing a completely false generalized conclusion based on an apples & oranges comparison (if that). The details of which are infinitely numerous enough to require a dedicated forum of its own. You're also neglecting security updates between KK and MM.

My previous Android phone, a Sony Xperia Z3 running KK is completely blown away by my LGV10 on MM... in EVERY way possible (except water resistance). But even that is NOT an exact comparison upon which I would base any kind of conclusion.

I had a friend with an iPhone say the same thing recently about how he thought Apple wasn't innovating. If you stick to one os the changes in operating systems won't be huge. They're all incremental updates. And furthermore the updates are to support new features that will be on newer phones and tablets that have the proper hardware for them.
For instance Apple will release a update that supports more options for force touch but everything from the 4S and up gets the update.....you need the new and expensive hardware to truly take advantage of the updates.

I'm running an MXPE new out of the box, as close to pure unbloated android as you can get. It did upgrade from lollipop to MM as soon as I set it up, and seemed to be having some issues, so I did a factory reset and have been running it a few days now. Seems a little better, but not $300 better. No apps of any kind installed, all stock.

The tablet is a Dragon Touch, and came with KitKat. It has some apps and a game or 2 my wife installed.

I also got my phone on sale for $300, it was originally $400.

I was just irritated that my brand new, high spec flagship phone was giving me more grief than my wife's several year old, dust collecting, $90 Chinese tablet. I've never paid near that much for a phone and was expecting a better experience

I know progress must go on, I'm just old school and like things that work well to stay working well, although I know I'm in the minority......the majority wants constant change to keep them excited, even if that comes at the expense of more problems. I didn't use all the features of my LG Thrive running Froyo........I know the majority of users don't use all the crazy features these new phones come with, they just want them there

I'll always take a less complicated and more stable device, with features most will use, over a buggy device packed with features most will never use Of course that won't make the phone and software companies the money they want

New and shiny all the time is the name of the game for most, just not for me

I understand what you're talking about, and there certainly are devices that don't perform as well after a system update. One thing I often do after an update is to wipe the cache partition, which can be helpful sometimes.
