Beeping noise

When making a call on my xperia z1 compact the other person hears a loud beeping noise for several,seconds, after that the call is normal. i can't hear the beeping, any ideas?

Yeah my ZI keeps beeping at me. I have taken it back several times to the Telstra store but they reckon I must be doing something wrong with phone. It is driving me mad.
