I've been considering rooting my Fascinate for a while now. I'm a first time Android user, so I'm trying to educate myself on the benefits and pitfalls of doing such a thing. At this point I still dont know a lot of plusses, but I have read that you can remove the bloatware that came with the phone. The idea of trimming the fat appeals to me, so I'm curious of how much of an actual benefit one can get from doing this.

If somebody could summarize the benefits to non-gaming performance (opening/closing apps, transitions, scrolling through menus) that can result from removing bloatware, that would be very helpful in my education.:)

Thanks!

im new to android and this is probily a dumb question but can you root the phone just to get rid of the stock stuff that came on the droid x 2.2 that have no purpose and then unroot it back or do u have to keep it rooted?
thanks
