Best Alarm Clock App?

I've tried a number of alarm clock apps and haven't been able to find one that I really like. What I'm trying to find in an alarm clock app is one that will use the full screen as a snooze button when the alarm goes off. The previous apps I've used include both a dismiss and snooze button on the screen at the same time. Since I have my contacts out when I am sleeping, I can't accurately see the screen to make sure I press the snooze button instead of the dismiss button (my vision is awful). Having a full screen snooze button would prevent me from accidentally dismissing my alarm and falling back asleep. The other feature I'm looking for is the schedule that most apps already include. Setting my alarm to only go off Monday - Friday saves me from forgetting to turn it on.

I've reverted to using an actual alarm clock until I find an app that I like enough to start using on a daily basis. :(

I would like to find an ultra-reliable alarm clock app that will not have the icon on the status bar.

I may resort to using a physical alarm clock too. Seems the most logical choice, I guess.

The stock alarm clock lets you set alarms for just certain days.

And you can configure it so the Volume buttons will act like Snooze. Not quite what you're asking for, but would still fit the bill of hitting snooze by feel.

You can also apparently set it to snooze if you flip the phone over.

I use the paid version of Gentle Alarm... Love it! It's never let me down yet!

G4'ed it!

I am using Alarm Clock Extreme from AVG labs. I use back buttons for snooze only and screen to cancel. That way I leave it face down on the nightstand with no chance of accidentally shutting it off.

I just get up when the alarm goes off.... :) I usually use Smart Alarm. The snooze and dismiss buttons are different colors so I don't have any risk of hitting the wrong one.

I must say I really like Google clock. I use it all the time.

I've been using timely and have had no problems. It backs up the alarms as well so you won't have to add them back if you reset your phone or get a new device.

The stock app isn't that bad once I learned how to change the awake tune

I got the same one! But I set it to Shake to Snooze. I got it because the Stock Alarm does not have increasing sound volume option. I like to be slowly wake up.

I use Alarm Clock Plus.

Shabamjenkins - The snooze button is not quite full screen, but it does take up most of the screen when it goes off (about 3/4 of it).

HaboobZ - I don't get an icon on the status bar when the alarm is set. I did with the same app on a Samsung Galaxy S4, but not on the LG G4.

I'll give that one a shot.

Yeah same here my wife gets up later than me so I have to wake up quietly!

I'll warn people against any alarm clock app that doesn't throw a status icon... why? Well, that status icon means that an alarm has been registered with the system... this gives is certain special priorities and permissions... meaning it will play nice with Android's new priority notification system as well as something coming in 6.0; Doze.

Doze limits background processes much like the priority notification system limits notifications.... in certain situations, Doze will pretty heavily throttle the background processes running on the phone, basically to the point where only high priority stuff fires. Alarms, REGISTERED alarms, as a high priority function. So what, you ask?

After I loaded the first M Preview on my Nexus 6, I noticed that my alarm app wouldn't fire but it WOULD fire as soon as I picked up the phone and turned on the screen. Didn't take me long to figure out that Doze was squashing the app, not allowing it to fire the alarm.... why? Because the alarm wasn't properly registered with the system (and never popped an icon in the status bar).

I switched to Timely.... stopped having those Doze related issues and dealt with the little clock up by the signal bars.

Yeah, with Gentle Alarm, I was ticked that it out the icon in the notification bar with the update to Lollipop, until I realized with out Android might kill it and thus no alarms would go off.

Gentle Alarm also has the settings to allow it to override the interruption settings of Lollipop - it either follows the interruptions set or will always go off.

LOL same here! The first thing she said about my new G4 was the stock alarm. I have it set to 3:30am when I go to work. She wakes up at 7 to take the kid to school. She was not happy when she got woken up at 3:30! So when I said I "like" to be woken up slowly I really mean she doesn't want to be woken up with me. :p

A well rested wife is a happy wife! 😄

That's hugely disappointing. I hate that the status bar is so cluttered on Android. Guess I'll have to go purchase an actual alarm clock for my nightstand and just put reminders on my desk for other things.

This isn't really much help app wise, but if you get a fitness tracker they have the best alarm clocks. I have a Jawbone Up24 ($50 now) but it gently vibrates my wrist to wake me up. I love this thing!
