Samsung Pay doesn't work with my non samsung phone on Galaxy Watch 8 Classic

So I am struggling with this for a while now since I got the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic recently.

Apparently I don't have the option to setup my cards on my new watch because the error on my non samsung phone keeps showing that this watch might not be supported. I kept sending error logs hoping Samsung will fix it.

So assuming that unfortunately Samsung Wallet/Pay can only be used on Samsung Phones when pairing, what are my options now? Google Wallet isn't supporting adding cards for tap and pay for my location yet and its not known if Samsung will add the update that fixes this issue for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.

I'm based around India incase you need that info.

Welcome to Android Central forums. Just a few questions before attempting to offer advice.

What phone do you have?

Have you tried to download Samsung Wallet on that device?

What is the error message you get on the device? Please be exact in the message and include any numbers or other identifiers so that we can search the message.

I did a quick Google for this and Google Gemini says that a combination of Galaxy Watch and non-Samsung device should allow Samsung Pay use. My only thought would then be is the Wallet app compatible with the phone. That seems to the be sticking point but we won't know until you reply to this thread with answers.

In the meantime, here is what Google says, with instructions for how to set-up Samsung Pay.

The phone I have is Oneplus 12. Its already in Android 15 latest update.

In the phone I downloaded the wearables app and when I install the wallet app from the phone, the wallet app is installed but it doesn't appear from the wearables app section.




I assume that I have to wait for an update but I would like to know if others are facing the same error that I am facing. I kept submitting the log files.

Well finding others with the same two devices attempting to do the same thing are going to be slim.

A quick search shows several instructional videos on YouTube on how to set Samsung Pay on the Watch 8. Again finding the exact combination of OnePlus and Galaxy Watch is going to be slim so you're not likely to find a specific video for this.

Looking at the directions I was able to find the only thing I can think to ask would be, do you have a pin or pattern setup on the phone? Samsung Pay will not work without one, the other or both. I know some people don't feel the need to lock their devices.

Beyond that I would start with a few of the YouTube videos and see if any of them offer any hint or clue that might allow this to work.
