Best Buy and Samsung out of Stock of 512's Blue

I don't want a loaner, I'll just keep using my note 8 and wait for the 512 model if need be. Setting up the phone is a pain in the arse, don't need to do it twice with a loaner, specially when I have the note 8 to use.

I ordered at 2:30am on preorder morning, so I'm guessing I'll be ok anyway, Verizon does go in order of when ordered.
Agreed. Setting up a phone twice is too time consuming. My 9+ rocks, so okay if there's a delay.

Hear, hear. The most anguishing fifteen minutes of life is setting up a new phone. As joy-robbing experiences go it's on par with walking six miles each way for water from the village well. Someday, I'll get indoor plumbing and that will be that.

What sucks about this is Samsung is going to be like "See, we can charge $1200 for a phone and people will still buy it"

Nah you can't judge by the initial orders from geeks. All the people who want these monster specs are going to pre order or buy in the first few weeks. The main thing for Samsung is how it does after couple of weeks when the crazy people have done buying

If the demand for 512 GB is good from normal people even after few weeks of release then yeah they will be damn we can charge like Apple and be perfectly fine. They even said in one of their recent earnings they want to introduce more higher end SKU with higher storage so that average selling price increases. Personally, I'm happy Samsung is providing higher local storage option. Majority people are happy with sd card but I always wanted more local storage since not a big fan of SD card and hated Samsung phones mostly had 64 GB option before S9 with few exceptions in some years. Glad they changed that and offering higher storage options like Apple does right at launch.

15 minutes?? 3.5 hours for me to redownload and set up all my apps and emulators. How many apps do you have? Two? ;)

I would think it's because of the 8gb the higher demand. Really, 512 is overkill for most of us. the high price is what steered me to the 6gb as well. I don't need 512 gb ram. They should have made the 128gb 8gb also or kept the 6gb model same as last years Note 8 price and sell an 128gb and 8gb ram for $1000, a 6gb ram 64gb storage for $940.

yeah, I don't care about 512, but I wanted that 8GB of RAM, but I feel like they might do something special for the S10, so I figured I didn't need to waste an extra $200 if I'm probably only having it for six months or so

Most likely Samsung predicted that the 128GB model would be the best seller, and they underestimated the demand for the 512 model. I would still bet that the 128 model IS the better seller, BUT the 512 may be selling better than they expected. :) Don't worry they will make more, then you can slap down your 1200 simolinas!

Wouldl be ironic if everyone is complaining about 1000 dollars phone but the 1200 dollars phone is the better seller lol

Yeah, that would be unexpected. Sounds like it could happen though.

Which would be bad for Samsung, since less people overall will pay that much. Seems the writing is on the wall that the N9 will not break their trend, but the 512gb will sell bigly.

Thing is, there is so much more competition now. Not seeing how Samsung can stay on a big incremental growth trend. If anything, they would be doing much worse without their efforts of differentiation. Card slot and 3.5 jack as example.

Sales aren't as bad as some outlets will have you believe. Numbers can be down some but margins are up as it is cheaper every year to produce phones but the price stays the same or goes up. they are just fine. For instance, Apple got bumper to number 3 for the first time in a decade but they are the first to reach a trillion dollars. It's all a game.

Well I still don't think the 512 model is, or will be the better seller. Here at AC, and probably at XDA YES, but with "regular" folks I think most will opt for 128. :)

I never said the 512 would be the better seller. I said that it was higher then expected, Samsung concentrated on producing more 128 versions. In the end, I'm positive the 128 will outsell the 512. The average person is not going to pay the extra for the 512.

Exactly. It's not just redownloading the apps, it's getting all the settings back to what you had.
Hell just downloading all the apps takes me like an hour and half. Then setting up all of my two factor authentication take a long time. By the time it's all over I'm like 5 hours in.
