Best Buy insurance plans for Tbolt

Correct the contract is on CC for exact term of your contract so 12 or 24 months. Loaner phone cost you $150.00 deposit must be on CC as well and time frame on repair is no more then 30 days.

I had bb insurance for my droid 1, black screen of death after dropping it. It took ~2 weeks to get the phone back, and although the screen worked, the rest of the phone was in a lot worse condition than when I gave it to them. The slider was loose, pieces falling off, etc. It sounds good on paper ($10/month, no deductible), but be careful. One other thing, you get a loaner but it probably won't be a smartphone. I was offered a HTC ozone which from what i've read from other experiences is much nicer than the typical offering (dumb phone). It most definitely won't be the same model as your phone. I'm going with verizon/asurion this time, mainly due to turnaround time. ~2 weeks is a long time to be without a smartphone!

I got a Thunderbolt a couple months ago from BB mobile. I also got the insurance they offered for $9.99/mo. for the full two years I'll have my phone. First of all if you pay for the full two years upfront the insurance only costs $170.00 versus the $240.00 it would it you paid month by month. In other words if you pay for the full two years of insurance when you first buy the phone and elect to get the insurance you hand them a check for $170 and your covered for the two years versus paying them $9.99 monthly (for those who can't do math you end up saving $70). Also I've seen elsewhere in the forum if you tell them the VZN insurance only costs $7/Month they'll actually price match it (but it'll come out to roughly the same price anyway if you pay for the full two years upfront for $170 vs. $168 paying $7/mo for 2 years).
I have not broken my phone (yet) but from my very thorough understanding of the coverage no matter what I do to break the phone all I have to do is bring it back to the BB mobile store and they'll give me a new one if my phone is beyond repair. If the phone can be repaired they'll repair it. Whether the damage is caused by water, fire, cracked screen, battery damage, etc... it doesn't matter. The only thing they do not cover is lost or stolen phones. They'll also give you a loaner phone while your other phone gets serviced. I feel the best part about the insuarnce is that there is no $50 or $100 dollar deductible to pay if you receive a new phone. Also you can use the insurance an unlimited amount of times during the year versus only being able to use it twice with VZN.

Something else to consider from best buy is the buyback program. The TB costs 699.99 retail. At 24 months BB will give you back 20% of what you originally paid for the item which is $140 (they go by retail price NOT sale price, I asked). I don't know what TBs will be going for on craigslist or eBay in 2 years but $140 bucks sounds pretty decent. This is my first post ever..sorry it is a little long.

I had my TB replaced by BB after a serious drop that took out the volume adjuster. They gave me a loaner but had a new TB in my hands in 3 days. No muss, no fuss. 1st rate customer service. The refurb I got is perfect. GREAT insurance.
