Best Buy on 12/11

If people walk in to Best Buy today...and are able to buy the Galaxy Nexus, activate it, and leave....then this will officially have been one of the worst phone launches in history.

To allow a phone to sell (accidentally even), that has yet to be officially launched, and before Verizon even begins to sell it, will only show that Verizon has lost control of this product. They'll have only themselves to blame. Unfortunately for Best Buy, they will most likely be hit with some heavy fines. It has happened before, I use to work for Best Buy, some six years there, and releasing product before official word will usually result in a costly fine.

Today will be interesting nonetheless, and I have no doubt some people will in face score a Galaxy Nexus from BBY. This will be quite embarrassing for Verizon.

I almost score one at one of my local RadioShack store. I walked in ask for the phone two RadiosShack sale guys immediately reply YES WE DO and I ask to get one. One walks to the back room and comes back with the wonderful all white box and seat it right in front of me. We go trough the process of opening my account, check that I can upgrade, he even enter the Nexus on my account and no problem when the girl next to him (another RadioShack employee) was on the phone with some Verizon rep helping her with an iPhone... and ask the guy helping me if he need it the Verizon rep and pass the phone to him. He proceed to tell the Verizon rep that he was about to sell his first Nexus and ask if he need to do anything besides activating the phone on the account when the Verizon rep practically scream it on the phone (I could heard the conversation) said "YOU GUYS NO SUPPOSED TO SELL THAT PHONE UNLESS WE GIVE YOU THE GO AHEAD!". The RadioShack empl turn his head down like a little kid, hangs up and tells me "sorry we can't sell you the phone, it doesn't have a release date yet but if you wanna give me your number I can call when it is"..... F U VERIZON! hahahaha

I'm definitely going to best buy and give it a try... What's the worst that could happen?

so here's my question. Say Best Buy has them for sale today when they open, can I take my Razr back to Verizon where I bought it on a new two year contract, return it, and go to BB and get the Nexus on the 2 year contract price? anyone know?

I'm thinking you can just swap them, this is the exact same thing I am doing. Bought a razr on a new two year contract last Sunday. Going to exchange it, best buy rep told me I had 30 days.

Edit: My bad, just seen you said you bought it at Verizon, I bought mine at best buy.

@tonyr4music same exact thing happened to me yesterday. I called them and asked if they had it, and of course they did, so I had him hold one for me. But when he was trying to access my account to activate the phone we couldn't figure out the pin number or something like that with their Radio Shack computers so he had to call the Verizon rep. Thats when he let it slip that he was selling me the Nexus and all I could hear over the phone was screaming and the guy had a look on his face like he just got fired. It sucks that Verizon is being such an a** about this, but I am just going to go to another store today (or Best Buy) and try it there. I know the code now so... hopefully!! *knock on wood*

I don't think they can block sales on systems that are not theirs, but can probably block activation, but I am hoping that since I am exchanging my razr they can just swap the sim card out.

If they let you buy it. Get it and walk the F out. And by "F" I mean Feet. Walk your feet out the front door FAST. Pay for it and walk out fast!!!!

Best buy Brooklyn NY . No dice guys said sorry there's no release date yet. That's all they would say :(

if they do sell the phone to you but then you get screwed over when they call verizon. before they take the phone back, couldnt you tell them no? you bought the phone and its a done deal and you dont want to return it?

although that is kind of a dick move

Me think that the employees can't read and the 11 in 12/11 is the year not the day. Local. Store. Is. Calling me when the arrive. Not even shipped to the best buys near easton/Allentown, pa.

Called two BB this morning.

First one tells me they only have the Galaxy Nexus available for AT&T. Idiot.
Next store tells me "That device has not launched in our store".

Oh well.
