Best Galaxy Note 4 Tempered Glass Screen Protector

Well, I ordered the Spigen. Put it on. Seemed nice. Then, I noticed a speck of dust. Should've just ignored it. Forgot it was glass, not plastic, bent it up, cracked it. I liked the Spigen. Seemed fine. But I'll give this zerolemon a try--coming Monday. We''ll see if it is of the same quality at less $$$.

(Humiliated...)

So, what, were you me yesterday? I did exactly the same thing except I did not break the screen protector. The corner I kept pulling back up with my fingernail folded the adhesive over onto it's self and now it won't sit flat so one corner is more "Haloed" than the rest of the thing. Next time...

I have got a Liguid Glass coming. Figure to give that a try. iloome has been saying their original efforts were a failure for several weeks now. I am not sure that email was approved by the iloome marketing department. Either it was not or they are asleep at the switch. I would not have worded anything that way. If iloome were actually to think the N4 edge is "ridiculously steep" what will they think of the Edge....impossibly steep I would imagine.

Anyway, if they fail at least IMO Corning Glass will be the only group left with a shot at this that might get it done unless somebody comes out of the woodwork.

At any rate, my concern is that if the screen protector ends in one place and the case ends in another, you will create a natural troth between them were all sorts of garbage will land (good luck during that trip to the beach....sand). Stuff will land there, mix with moisture from the air, harden and start to dig at the glass in that spot pushed down farther by the two edges (case and protector) that don't overlap. Even the few manufactures that make both cases and screens are not designing them in tandem, to work with each other.

I do think it unfortunate that most of the reviews we get that we would trust are somewhat unprofessional in nature and those that might rise above that are biased. Manufacturers in general should be doing a better job of representing their products to this market segment especially when you consider its size. Their marketing efforts are often juvenile and completely unhelpful to people trying to make a decision. My God if a case manufacturer ever released dims for his product the world would come to an end apparently.

I figure since none of the screen protectors fit properly that liquid was the best way to go. I haven't had any problems and it doesn't attract fingerprints for me and it's very resistant to liquid. A few drops of water got on my screen and I could tell it was "resisting" lol

... so if you want something less scratch resistant make darn sure it is Gorilla Glass®. GG replaces the typical Sodium in the glass surface with atoms of Potassium making it stronger or so Corning says. I have not tested this theory. Yet...

I found out that the Note 4 has Gorilla Glass 3, but I can't find anything definitive that lists what the hardness rating is of that glass. I've sent Corning an email asking them what the hardness rating is, but haven't heard yet. I'll post the results once I know it.

On the Mohs scale of hardness, Gorilla Glass scores a 6.8, which puts it just below a mineral like Quartz. Sapphire is the second hardest naturally occurring material on the planet, behind diamond. and scores 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. This test matches one substance's ability to scratch another - and so is a better indicator of scratch resistance than shatter resistance.

“Chemically strengthened glass can be excellent, but sapphire is better in terms of hardness, strength, and toughness,” said Matthew Hall, Director of the Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology at the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University, quoted in Tech Crunch. “The fracture toughness of sapphire should be around 4 times greater than Gorilla Glass – about 3 MPa-m0.5 versus 0.7 MPa-m0.5, respectively.”

Before anyone says this is original gorilla glass - it is gorilla glass 3 the review was done in april 2014

I tried the Spigen, it was quite good. I wouldn't even have bothered searching for another had I not broken it.

So my Note 2 screen protector had a 9H hardness or so it said. It was great. I built a plastic adapter to hold a 10X loupe but I had to take the case off and attach the loupe adapter directly to the phone. I was looking at some sand with tiny gold nuggets shooting pictures with the Note 2 through the loupe and spilled a small bit of the sand on my lab bench. Subsequently I removed the loupe and had set the phone face down on the lab bench. At some point I bumped the phone and it turned 1/4 turn on the bench and I heard a scratching sound as it rotated. Some of the sand was under the phone and had scratched a significant 1/2" groove in the screen protector. The culprit was a tiny quartz crystal in the sand. Hardness on the quartz is known to be 7 on the Mohs scale, tempered glass is typically about a 7 on the Mohs scale also. Obviously the glass was scratched by the quartz and diamonds are used to cut diamonds so this proves that. Supposedly Gorilla Glass made by Corning has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale so if you want something less scratch resistant make darn sure it is Gorilla Glass®. GG replaces the typical Sodium in the glass surface with atoms of Potassium making it stronger or so Corning says. I have not tested this theory. Yet...

That is an amazing story.

I ordered this one from eBay. While I agree it probably does not fit the edges properly (it claims to), it was only $6. I don't have huge hopes but we shall see!

Well guess what everyone iloome seems to have their act together. I just got this from them and they will be shipping it out by the end of this month

At this time, please let us know of your selection out of*following two (2) options*by replying to this email:

*

(A)*I'd like to*receive ScreenMate FLEX for Samsung Galaxy Note 4*for $14.99 (20% off current price)! I understand that I will receive $10 refund from this open order, and*my order will be*shipped on/before*October 29th, 2014*(Wednesday).

*

(B)*Please*cancel my current order*of tempered glass and not receive ScreenMate FLEX.

The iloome Flex is probably a pretty good solution at this point. We won't be able to see what the Corning guys have some up with till I think mid-December. Plus this gives iloome more time to work the issues. But I like iloome...they are a good company, pretty clever people always working the issues.

So the glass that covers bar code scanners in the stores is made out of man made sapphire, or better known as corundum.

Times like this I wished I worked for Ball Aerospace, not far from where I live now. I would go and put my bunny suit on, head to the lab and make me a curves sapphire screen protector, during my lunch break of course.

Until that day I will simply have to work Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
