Best Kernel for JB roms? (Vicious JB v3)

You don't have to be overclocked though. Particularly when playing with the minimum and maximum thresholds.

Here's mine...

It's all in the tweaking. :-)

And you're still using the Trinity kernel? I am using the stock kernel, so I guess they're about the same. I find it odd that not many people are concerned with battery life, seems everyone wants to OC and tweak the ROMs to give performance over battery.

Yes I'm on trinity, although some of my battery drain could be because I was sitting in a movie theater for two hours , and there was barely any signal there.

Will the tool box help improve battery life that much though? Not sure if I want to pay the 4 dollars for it? In other words, is it worth it?

I make it a habit of donating to devs I use frequently, so based on that, yes.

That being said, you can do a lot with the application. Changing speeds, governors, voltage, etc.

What kind of battery life do you get?

So I just switched over from Vicious v3 to Razor's Jelly. So far the battery life is awesome. The dreaded battery countdown is much slower and I'm getting a lot of "deep sleep" from the CPU. All the patches are in there and ROM is as pure to JB as you can get before the source is released. Give it a try.

[ROM] Razor's Jelly V2.5 [Verizon][Jelly Bean 4.1] - [VZW] Galaxy Nexus Development - RootzWiki

Now I kind of want to switch to razr jelly, but I don't feel like setting everything up again. If I didn't have to do a factory reset I would be fine.
Also, does it include all of the Google apps?
Edit: I installed razr. So far so good.

Ha ha - I see flashing bug has bit you! Yes - GApps are included along with its own kernel too i believe. Glad its going well for you. I'm going on 20hrs or so on Razor and the battery life is still the best of the JB roms ive tried. I got 14hrs on my 1st charge.

Are you using the stock kernel in razor? If you are, does your screen seem a little washed out? Mine did.

I figured it out. Have to use root explorer.

I am also using Razrs Jelly and so far it has been smooth, fast and great on my battery. Jelly Beam is probably the best OS on a phone I've ever used and I've used them all. I think I'm going to go stock when it's officially released for Verizon. So in 6 months:)

If a ROM includes it's own kernel, will it overwrite any custom kernel that is installed? I like the thought of 20 hours for the battery.

Whatever is flashed last will be the one remaining. So if you flash a rom then a kernel, the kernel will replace the roms kernel.

I've been playing around with a few Jelly Bean ROMs and kernels all week. I've settled on Vicious Jelly Bean and the Franco Kernel Linaro 210 build. I'm getting the best performance and stability with this combo. Battery life hasn't been too bad either. Here are a couple screenshots of my Quadrant scores. I was blown away when I first ran it.
