I see there is a multitude of choices of Otterbox for S8 Plus...

what's a good one that covers both front and back and offers decent drop protection given the screen that appears to be raised given the curved edges. Specifically, if dropped on the front, the raised edges of the case should protect the screen from the impact.

The Defender and Symmetry are both protective, the Defender has a holster too. (The Defender Pro seems to have some sort of microbial protection. I've used a Defender on all my phones for years and have never had any microbe problems.) I've dropped phones in Defender cases many times (once violently), and the only thing that didn't survive was me - I went into shock until I found that the phone, the case and whatever it had hit was all okay. (They're expensive, but a $200 co-pay for insurance is even more expensive.)

The back lens isn't covered by any of them, but it's well-buried under the case level. As for the screen, I've had one phone thrown against a wall, flat, screen-first. Not a scratch, not a mark. In fact, that was about 4 years ago, and the phone is still in the case and still functioning. (New battery since then, but that has nothing to do with the case.)

I have an S8, purchased shortly after they came out, with a Defender case and it works well. I remove the Defendeds built in plastic screen protector and install a screen protector on the phone. The Defender has a raised edge on the top and bottom that protects the screen and the back is protected by plastic covered by the rubber cover. Have dropped mine a number of times with no issues as well have had 7 of 11 grandkids used the phone for games without incident.

The basic difference in the Defender series is the color and with or without the built in screen protector. Other than that, the same unless it also now comes with or without the holster. I do not know anything about the other case you referenced.

I see. OK. I will compare the two, these are the two choices and both look sharp.
