Between the Pebble, Sony's SW 2, Galaxy Gear, Qualcomm's Toq and Apple's rumored device which do you think will find the most success?

Personally I really like what I've seen with GG, the real downside being exclusive to the N3 at launch. (If Samsung opens it up to all of their devices I think they have a very good chance)

Thoughts?

If the leaked Google smartwatch is real then I think it will be the most successful, it has a nice design and is similar to stock jelly bean

Oops forgot about Googles' rumored watch.

Im disappointed with the gear being tied to the note 3 too. I have a note 2 and I love it. Id rather wait for the Google watch

It will just be like that at launch. They will expand it to other galaxy phones sometime after launch.

Yeah thats true but the price is a lil too high for my taste. I wont be surprised if Google matches that price too

The Pebble is the only one on that list that's actually available now. It;'s feature set is pretty limited, but I don't know how any of the other devices will work once they're released.

If there's an Apple watch it will be the most successful by default in terms of sales. Truth be told, it'll probably win on execution as well but I'm not as convinced of that as I would have been a few years ago. I haven't been as impressed with Apple's product lineup lately.

Isn't Galaxy Gear restricted to only Samsung devices? Any chance of that opening up? Cause not everyone uses a Samsung...

Im going to write in my own opinion here. I think the original Sony Smartwatch offers the best bang for the buck. it has majority of the feature options as far as information and notification goes as the GG watch which nearly covers everything i need in a watch. Add on a library of 300+ apps for it and a price around $100 and its hard to beat

Apple will NEVER make their products work with anything other than ios devices so that isn't any more restricted than the GG watch. As for Pebble, its too low end for my taste, and I haven't seen the Google Smartwatch, anyone have a link for it?

No official images, just a bunch of mockups from fans.

I know its just mock ups from iFans, but it won't change the fact that apple will never open up their ecosystem and will block any third party device support. Not to say there won't be those who will try but likely they will tie it to something embedded in ios.

Im not caring much about Apple products other than to watch what they're doing....I finally ordered an omate smartwatch from kickstarter. Compared it with samsung gear and decided thats what I wanted. Cant wait for it to get here in November!

Maybe get one of the prepaid SIM cards for it? Turn it off and on. I do agree, it is tough wanting real cell coverage, but would really like to be able to use both the cell phone (HTC One) and the Omate w/ the same phone number. It will be interesting to see where this goes. Does the watch end up getting to be the 'master' device with the cell phones becoming the 'client'/extended screen device or vice-versus.

It's a cool watch, but I don't want to get an ATT plan to use it.
the problem is, that everything is really, really small in this smartwatch so not all providers can be supported, most GSM/UMTS ones are supported, and because of this, it works as stand alone device too, in contrary to mostly all other smartwatches available right now.

But the Omate TrueSmart also can be used as companion for an existing smartphone (without SIM card needed), then it will act only as (sports-)watch, BT headset and messaging device and so on. Much more will be possible with additional apps.

Now only 17h are left, the pledge level stands at 960K USD, they have nearly 4150 bakers, and more than 10.000 comments on the KickStarter-site (plus the comments at FB and G+ which I am not "interested" in). That is a really great community!

And by now they have 12 different clockfaces (http://www.omate.com/clockfacemaniastretch) what is really cool too :-)

So if you are interested, step in now, there are still November editions available (dev and standard) and also the "extreme edition" with 1GB RAM/8 GB flash is available again for the December delivery (they assured it will be before chrismas :-) ): Omate TrueSmart: Water-resistant standalone Smartwatch 2.0 by Omate — Kickstarter

I do understand that and its just a bummer since I'm a Verizon customer and Verizon will never get it since they want control over the hardware and sell it for their profits and contracts. Like I said, cool tech, great idea just not something I can use due to non-GSM carrier.

I just "feel" that this is good for Verizon, but not for the customers. And I think it is time to change ...

At least for me this would be a reason to cancel my contract as soon as possible and go for GSM, like most parts of the rest of the world. Sometimes (but not always) it has advantages to use widespreaded technology!

PS: Only 4h to go, over 1 million USD, nearly 4300 bakers, more than 11000 comments and 20 clockfaces, this are great numbers :-)
