I have picked up these tempered glass screen protectors on Amazon, 2-pack for $6.99, which turned out to be a great buy.
How are these holding up? Any Halo effect on the outside edges?

Oh most definitely. I have dropped my phone a few times. No doubt a case saved my phone from cracking at least onceI always put a screen protector on my phones. Main reason is not to prevent scratches but to help preserve the screen in case of a drop. It seems the screen protector cracks preferentially instead of the phone screen. When I get my family members phones, I get them cases and screen protectors along with it. Cases and screen protectors definitely pay off around this house!!

If it chips quickly, I would really suggest getting a different screen protectorI've been using the Mr Shield ones. It doesn't cover the whole screen but does enough so that if you use a case, your phone is well protected. I personally don't use a case and only have the screen protector and everything has been fine. The only problem with it is that the protector is prone to chipping easily but the company really honors their lifetime warranty and send you a replacement pack quickly.

Constantly dealing with bad screen protector and waiting for a new one to get shipped is a hassle.Nah, I would just keep getting free ones via warranty
I figured do it a few times and they would just refund the money. Then buy a better one. You are right it is a hassle though. Depends on you whether or not you want to deal with the hassle and save money or pony up more dor a different oneConstantly dealing with bad screen protector and waiting for a new one to get shipped is a hassle.
That is true, I wouldn't want to deal with getting replacement every weekDepends how fast they break. If they break once a week or even every other week. I think it's best to get a different brand. But if it breaks every 3 months or so. Not bad.
