I know that CChamp is a legitimate member, but I suspect the question might attract spammers. So respondents, be aware -- if you just have 1 or 2 posts to your name and you suggest some shady-sounding app, you will probably be banned.
Oh, the post is totally fine -- I'm sure many people would like to get recommendations for a good video player, and this thread may be very helpful for them as well. I just wanted to warn any would-be spammers that we're keeping an eye out.
Thank you, my wife has a lot of knitting video's that she needs more control with that the stock player doesn't give (I think). She needs to be able to quickly go forward and back, jump ahead and back by 10 sec or so and also be able to slow the video at times.
I don't watch much video on my phone. I do use VLC on my Samsung Tablets. I've never encountered any problems.
VLC supports several video formats. It has a jump to time feature (which I have never tried). Also, the playback speed adjusts from .25x through 4.00x normal speed.
It's free, so it might be worth a try.
I can't swear it's the best, but it checks all my boxes.
I've primarily relied on the stock video player from Samsung or Microsoft depending on my device but have had experience with VCL media player since before Android was a thing. I've never had a need for a different video player.
