Hello, haven't been posting in a while, that will hopefully change soon. Just wanted to know what would be the best watch to go along with the S8. I currently have the Gear S2 3G on Verizon, but am selling it and am planning on buying a new one. I was looking at the LG Watch Sport and the Gear S3 Frontier. Just wanted to know what everyone thinks. The watches being big doesn't bother me much at all either. Thanks

I recently went through this dilemma, and chose the LG watch over the S3. If I had it to do over, I would have went with the S3.

I like the LG and it serves my purposes, but there are several little things that I don't like at all.

Thank you for your reply :). What certain things do you not like about the LG, and what things do you think are better or worse on the S3? Thanks!

I have the Gear S3 Frontier , love it , having said that it's my first Smart watch . I like the look and size of it, looks great and have got many compliments on it. Works great with my S8 Plus .

I do like the Gear S2, it's just a bit small and the battery isn't the best anymore. Thank you for this, as I think I'm leaning more towards the Gear S3 Frontier. I can get it used from Amazon Warehouse Deals as well, it says in "very good condition" but Amazon will probably give it to me like new.

I meant to say for $210

I'm probably going to opt for the Gear Sport. I don't need LTE of the Gear 3, otherwise they are pretty close to being the same with the Sport being a little smaller and not having MST technology for the swipe pay functionality.

I really cant comment on what I think is better on the S3, since I haven't had one, but I did have the Gear Fit S2 before this and liked it in many ways. So I assume the S3 would be identical and better.

Things I dont like on LG:

Main push button activates google assistant and is very touchy, resulting in NUMEROUS false activation's. Very annoying.

Battery is not the best, but it gets me through a full day. Although I do not use it as another phone, meaning it does not have it's own sim, just linked through Bluetooth on my phone.

Must factory reset if you need to pair it with another phone.

These things may be petty to most, but they annoy me for a $300+ watch.

I have the Bluetooth Gear S3 , not the LTE version , figured I really didn't need LTE

I have the bluetooth gear S3 Frontier version and love it. I just wish that it did map notifications without having to buy an app for it. That is where Apple Watch is superior (I don't like Apple so that just tasted like vinegar. lol)

It also doesn't have a speaker though as well. If that matters to you.

Huh?? I didn't buy a map app and I get directions on my S3. Just use HERE WeGo app on the S3 and on your phone and they work together.

This really comes down to the features YOU need. I can tell you I love my Gear S3, but I've never used the LG watch. I like having MS Pay and the calendar notifications the S3 provides me. The best watch for YOU is the one that gives YOU the features YOU need from a watch. It doesn't really matter what any of us think or like.

Oh wow, didn't know that. Not sure that it matters to me (I always kept my Apple watch on silent) but good to know just the same.

Very cool, going to check that out , app gets bad reviews for battery hogging, what's your experience?

Thank you. I think I will get the Gear S3 just because I had the S2 before and I also have the S8.

Well, I seldom use it. I did use it back in July when we were at a baseball tourney in St Louis. I didn't pay any attention to the battery usage, but yeah, it is using the GPS. It was neat having my watch ding when it was time to turn.
