Best way to activate and download apps via WiFi?

OK, my Pixel XL 128 is arriving Tuesday. Usually I buy my devices in the stores and VZW insists on activating them there so I don't have a choice, but with this one arriving via FedEx I'll be activating it at home. Is there a way to do this using my home WiFi rather than using my data allowance to download all the apps? Plus I have gigabit WiFi at home and it will be much faster. Can I turn the Pixel on and just not put in my Google account info and log in to my WiFi first...then login to Google so it downloads via WiFi? Thanks for the help. I figured someone on here has done this.

Yes, it will prompt you for WiFi information during setup and as long as it has a connection it will utilize that for the download.

You do know that you can use the included cable and adapter to connect your old phone to your Pixel XL and just about everything can be automagically copied over to your new phone.
