Best way to backup data and apps

Hi folks, I'm not sure if I am backing up my data and apps on my Galaxy s4. I do have KitKat installed. What is the best way to ensure that I am backing up properly in case I lose my phone?

1. use Gmail and make sure all of your Contracts, Calendar, etc. is syncing with Gmail.
2. Settings-->Backup & Reset-->Back Up My Data (Checked)
3. Use Dropbox -

the data is on Google's servers and will resync when you sync a new or reset device with your Google account. this will include your Gmail/Google Account data but may not include some third party app data - for example - high scores on games, etc. third party app data must be saved in the cloud elsewhere.
