My Droid X is my ONLY phone, and I cannot afford to replace it. And I now have reason to want to root it. I'm not interested in flashing ROMS, I want to be able to "freeze" certain apps from ever running because they are now causing behavior I expect from happening (forex, the built-in music player auto-starts randomly when I plug in earphones or connect a specific BT musically inclined speaker kit when I want another player or nothing at all), and I'd like to be able to back up everything not just things that Google backs up anyway.
What is the most reliable method? My X is running the current firmware, GB .605.
I know of two apps that can do the backups and the freezing on rooted phones, Titanium and MyBackup Pro. I already have MyBackup Pro, using its non-root features.
