Does it completely shut off when the phone is charged or does it turn on and off as needed? I keep my phone charging all night when I am asleep and dont want to wake up to a dead phone because the charger shut off

Quite well. That's actually my preferred method of use, as I found that without the bumper, the smooth glass back requires the puck to be on a completely flat surface, or else the phone will show you how capable it is of being a level and tell you fairly quickly which way the surface is sloped.

I just got the LG base and it works fine once you get the placement down. It charges just fine through my Boxwave Minimus case. The puck design is ok, but I wouldn't mind an oval shape with a bit of a cradle to it so it was harder to bump off or miss the sweet spot. The price seems a bit steep for what it is, but even wired phone-specific chargers aren't much less expensive, if at all.

All things considered, it is MUCH better than trying to plug that annoying Micro-USB connector into my n4 in the dark.

2 months, works w/ no issues. I hardly look at it before placing my N4 on it, again, no problems.

After using the LG version for a while, the flashing green indicator light is WAY too bright in the dark. I also wish there was a way to turn off day dream mode after a preset amount of time.

I have not timed the charging (I drop the N4 on/pick it up & go, throughout the day) so I can't comment on your question. The slipping issue, initially yes when I placed the charger on a unstable table (no pun intended), maybe change your charging location? it has 4 small pads underneath, check if any missing?
