BestBuy: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

Im glad some of u are getting ur phones. bb is giving me the shaft big time. Today would work out so much better for me to pick it up. Tomorrow is next to impossible. Guess ill tell my boss i have a doc apt.
 
Ordered my wifes Verizon Orchid Grey on 9/11 and got shipping notification just now. The site originally said Orchid Grey would ship by 9/29/17.

She should be happy, I got my Verizon Black on 9/12.

Can I ask what state you are located in? I order a Gray note 8 for verizon on 9/6 and haven't received any shipping info yet.

Call the BB customer service line and then ask for the tracking information for your order. 9/10 the automated system will spit out a tracking number.

I've tried, either I'm doing it wrong, or mine doesn't have tracking info yet. I am in Ohio, so maybe my warehouse is out. I just wish if they ran out of stock they would own up and tell people so we could cancel and go elsewhere.
 
I did a preorder at best buy on 9/12 to pick up at the store. It said i'd get my device by 9/29. I've never done a preorder before, but wanted to get the extras. I'm hoping next week.

Yes, that's me. Got back from the B.B. Store around 3o'clock or so, by 6pm, I get a call from them saying IF I was one of those that received an email saying my phone was ready today, I can come & pick it up. The rep. said the wait is long & they are BUSY since they didn't plan on releasing it until tomorrow & dont have full staff in. Rep. also said that appointments are strongly recommended for tomorrow & the wkend or the wait may still be long.
 
I didn't get a email to go pick up my phone but I called the 800 number and it said that my phone is ready for pickup. I guess I will be going in tomorrow to pick up my phone at 8am.
 
I like this plan! I didn't get the email but how are some stores now going to hand them out and some aren't? The blame before was placed on Samsung not allowing stores to sell. That has CLEARLY gone out the window now so this is easily Best Buys problem at this point. I have gone through the anger of watching everyone get it in the mail WAY early to the hopefulness that they would release in-store early this week to the acceptance it would be Friday. I am back in full pissed off mode now though because people are walking out of stores now with phones in hand. Done with the lies...

I share your frustration. I dont have my N8 yet either. Samsung does not want the phone released until the 15th. The B.B's are only releasing now because of the email error. I know my B.B. said they would honor because of how many were affected by email. Probably afraid of lots of blowback. Sounds like each B.B. handling differently.
 
Hey folks, new Note 8 owner here. I was pretty happy with my S8+, but I've always preferred the Note's squarish looks over the S series rather rounded looks. I didn't pre-order anything, but I've done some reading about the differences over the past few days. I didn't even know when the N8 was supposed to be available, but when I checked this afternoon, the answer was "tomorrow." So, since I was in the same general area as the local Best Buy, I thought I'd pop in and see what options I might have.

I was just looking at the N8 versus the S8+ at the main display right inside the front doors, and a BB Mobile guy asked if I wanted help, so I asked. Turns out that they can indeed sell them today, and I asked about just buying an unlocked N8, and just popping the SIM card from my S8+ over to it. No problem, did I want him to check and see if they had an unlocked N8 he could sell me? Sure, OK. So, he comes back with a box in his hand, says someone cancelled their pre-order, so it would have to be the black (which of course I wanted), and I decided to just go ahead and do it. Not even ten minutes later, I walked out of the door with a new unlocked N8 in my hand.

He asked if I wanted them to set it up for me, but nah, I know the drill. I'm now in the middle of the app downloading and installing and so on. But truly, I walked into the store, stood there looking at the phones for maybe two minutes, talked with the guy for maybe three minutes, and the purchase didn't even take five minutes. Not bad at all for an N8 impulse purchase!

Right now, I'm kind of frustrated that Samsung absolutely WILL NOT allow you to register for the promotion via a web browser -- no, you have to install the app and do it from the phone. Otherwise, I would have already registered, rather than being mired in the middle of setting the phone up. But that's the only frustration so far, and I'll get registered as soon as I'm up and running.

I guess the best advice I can give to anyone right now is to get down to your local Best Buy store, and see what happens!

I am in Ohio too. I received my tracking info for my orchid gray. It shipped from New York on Wednesday and has arrived in Columbus. It is scheduled to be to me tomorrow (I'm in NE OH).

On another note--no pun intended--spouse's black note 8 arrived on Sept 6th. Believe it or not, I didn't get it activated and set up until 9th (Blasphemy, I know, but I'm the techie in the house and that's when I had time. My motivation was slightly low because, well, it wasn't mine lol and my spouse was not in a hurry like I would have been). Anyway, on the 9th, I requested our freebie from Samsung for the black note 8 (the Gear 360 camera) and it arrived TODAY, just five days (one of which was a Sunday) later. Pretty darn quick. I am going to request the charger and memory card tomorrow when my phone arrives. At any rate, just sharing for those concerned about getting the freebies. Hopefully they will continue to have plenty and be able to get them out quickly. I do realize that the wireless charger and memory card could take longer since that promotional gift seems to be in higher demand.

Here's to hoping that we are all pleasantly surprised by the on time arrival of our Notes tomorrow!
 
Glad to see BB acquiesced somewhat today and started releasing the phones. I got mine about 330pm. Loving it.

Called to see about setting up a time tomorrow to go pick it up. Lady checked my order number, put me on hold for several minutes, and then came back and said "They said there's no pickup til tomorrow, but if you come in they said they'll take care of you today."

Had about an hour and a half free, so I got there as fast as I could.

"Did you get an email?"

"No. I called this store and the lady said she talked to you guys and i could get it today."

"No way. I gave very specific instructions that that couldn't happen today."

"You gotta be sh***ing me."

Long story short, they had someone from the warehouse dig around for my phone, found it, and let me take it.

Only had a little time to start setting it up, and then I wasn't available for hours, but messing with it more... wow.

Love it.

Finally got a phone call and email telling me I can pick it up tomorrow. I made an appointment for 2:30 pm.

Hers actually shipped out of Conroe TX. UPS Ground so not expected until the 19th.
 
I also finally got an e-mail yesterday saying mine had shipped about 30 minutes after I got off the phone with Best Buy. I was surprised because when I spoke with them on the phone they didn't have any information. And then later yesterday evening I got an e-mail from UPS saying that it is supposed to be delivered today. So, I will remain hopeful that it does. :)

But I am happy to hear that more people are getting their phones, also. :D
 
1st note 8 didn't. Second note 8 did and just like you, i had to call sprint to get my number moved from the sim from my old phone to the one in note 8 number 2.

My order status finally updated :(

"This item has been delayed, but we are continuing to work on it. If we cannot complete your order by null, we will let you know and cancel the item. Get it by Sat, Oct 14."

The word null is another kick in the face, cause now they haven't even given me an exact date when they will let me cancel. So now I gotta either wait an indefinite amount of time, probably a month by the looks of it. Or cancel and either try for a black, or try to go through best buy in store or verizon.

I am happy for all those that received theirs. But I am a little annoyed to have seen people order after me and still get theirs. I'm sure it has something to do with "local" warehouse stock. But we've also seen them ship these things across country so I just don't get it. I know this is Best buy and not samsung specifically. But it also hurts that they aren't making sure note 7 owners aren't being taken care of first either. I'm guessing I'll find a way to get my phone before the middle of october, but if I don't samsung may lose my business cause nearly every other phone will be out by then.


Edit: Man, Best buy really needs to get their crap together. I called the phone number and my item finally has tracking info. I checked and UPS has no info for the tracking number they provided. But now I am left wondering if they did ship me a phone or didn't.
