is there a sticky for improving battery life on this phone? my standby seems to be killing me. phone goes down to about 40% with light usage by the end of the day, just from standby.

what services can i turn off and what ill effects if any?

MOD EDIT: Please post your battery life as well here. I am going to close the other thread and you guys can continue here. It looks nicer when there are fewer stickies and more participation. :)

Go into your services and kill the DRM service. Also go into airplane mode for 10-15 seconds and then exit. This should help.

Battery Help

I been at this for weeks trying to get the same battery life as my fellow Epic 4g users but I get about 6-7 hours with mild usages. What I done seems to do nothing

SetCPU to 800 MHz
Screen brightness 2 clicks above the lowest setting
Screen 15 sec turn off.
Disabled and removed the DRM with System Startup 2.0 Along with most sprint blot ware.
After Boot tootle airplane mode on then off.
Bluthooth Wifi GPS Off ( Auto start up with tasker)
Apps killed once every 4 hours.
Mail set to manual sync
Only 4 android widgets in running in the background ( Facebook Launcher Pro, Battery Sats, Beautiful Widgets
But even with all this I got from 100% to 80% after a hour.

What the **** can I do to get these 20-30 hours battery life you guys seem to have.

Mine does go down quickly from 100 to 80% as well but after that it doesn't drop so quickly.

I can usually go all day with no problem. I do turn off my 3G while at work since I just barely get a signal there. My Cell standby is usually like 70% (and that's after toggling Airplane Mode). I turn of DRM also whenever I restart. Here's my battery usage from today with music usage at work (I'm a music teacher), about 2 and a half hours of phone calls, half hour of Robo Defense, and miscellaneous browsing and texting throughout the day. GPS stays on, screen at Auto, Live starfield wallpaper.

Edit: Forgot to mention battery was at 24% when screenshot was taken.

Huh?

Caliskimmer,

I have a vague idea what your post is refering to:

Rooted HTC Evo 2.2
ROM: Fresh EVO 3.3.0.1
Kernel: Netarchy-toastmod 4.1.9.1 Beta cfs

But I have no idea how to root a phone or install the other two items.

I assume that if you do all of this that it will takes care of the battery problems correct? I also think that the procedures to accomplish all this are more than I feel comfortable doing.

Turn off 3G?

You mention turning off 3G but I don't see how that's possible. I see that you can turn off 4G. I have the same issue in my office is that my signal goes between zero and one bar and my battery is lasting about 4 hours. I'm about to drop this phone (and Sprint alltogether) but maybe I won't have to if this will help.
thanks

If turning off 3G were easily possible ...

Well, I haven't found a reliable way to turn off (and be able to turn back on) 3G. There was a widget in the Market I was using for a while, but I would occasionally have issues where it would not always turn 3G back on.

However, if you find a way to do it, it would definitely go a long way to extending battery life, I would think.

At least, that's how life worked on the Palm Pre ...

For those wondering how to turn off the 3G or having problems with it, I downloaded the app called Quick Settings off the Market. Switched over to that app from DCSwitch due to the latter constantly letting 3G turn back on automatically. But with QS, it keeps my 3G off and seems to have done wonders for my battery life. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes for you guys.

I use an app called SwitchPro on the Market for turning off my 3G. I can be customized to toggle just about anything on the phone and works great.

not sure if i like the idea of not getting any data, to preserve battery life, i never had this issue with any of my blackberry phones. my blackberry tour was pushing 4 email accounts, a facebook account, and weatherbug with location (recieve over 100 emails a day and some i respond too). With light usage on the BB i would have about 50% left by days end. with heavy usage i could just make it a full day. with very very light usage, i would have about 80% by days end.

light usage on my epic means i need to recharge by 5 -6pm this is not acceptable, i have a few days left with this phone before i cant return it for a refund. I will be calling samsung and sprint a few times to try and get this resolved if there is no fix for this issue, i will just have to switch back to my BB tour until sprint comes out with a good android phone with a keyboard and decent battery life or BB wakes the hell up and puts out something that can compete.

i will definitely miss all the cool features but i need my phone to last at least all day (9am-9pm), too bad the evo doesn't have a keyboard..

I use battery Droid and while it says 43% my battery indicator at the top of my screen looks like 80%. I know the battery Droid is correct so what gives?

Just thought I'd share - I'm on hour 14 since unplugged and still have 65% battery. Ever since installing the Baked Snack ROM my battery life has skyrocketed. Keep in mind this is without Juice Defender, and without turning off my data connection at all.

i went to bed around 12:50am with 100% charge woke up around 7:45am and my battery has drained down to 65%, spare parts shows time spent without sleeping to be 1 hour 25 minutes. does it take that long for the epic to go into sleep mode? should it take that long to go into sleep mode?
