Bionic coming soon!!

You can just buy unlimited data even if you don't have a phone that uses it. Then just save your upgrade for whatever phone you want.

I thought that too, but after seeing their leaked powerpoints, I don't know if that's true.

They seem to specifically call out the distinction of people currently with "smartphones" being able to roll their plans over.

It's ambiguous at best.

That said, after thinking about it a little more I change my opinion about the return/restock deal. VZW is pretty hard nosed about their returns, how you can do it etc. etc. and they do charge you $35 for it. That?s more than 10% of the (subsidized) phone price to begin with. If they want to play hardball with the returns, then I say a person is within their rights to get a phone with the intention of returning it to VZW. If nothing else, you?re paying them $35 to rent a phone for 2 weeks.

Now if you?re planning to do the same thing at a place like Costco, which doesn?t charge restocking and views their return policy as a general perk of shopping at the store, then I?d say ?booooo!?

VZW policy does state, "for whatever reason."

I spoke with a Verizon rep and they said that someone on the family plan I'm on could buy the unlimited data and be locked in even if they didn't upgrade their phone to a smartphone at this time. Now I admit that next Wednesday I'm going to the store to drop all the same questions. The rep I spoke to still hadn't been fully trained so I want to make sure they have some time to learn more and then see if any answers change.

That?s the deal though. I just have zero confidence in anything the store people say.

There?s been too many times when they try and answer your question, then stall? ?then they get to the correct screen on their system only to tell you that they were misinformed.

Until the VZW terminal in the store lets them select it, it seems they are both powerless and clueless about it.

It?s a pickle, and I will say that I am apprehensive about leaving my renewal to sit past the 7th while waiting for a couple of upcoming phones to release, and I already have a smartphone.

Still think you best was of making sure your locked in is to get a cheapo used smartphone and get the data plan. $40 and you got yourself unlimited data

Some good news over at HoFo.

It's been confirmed that the Atrix build with the unlockable bootloader is in fact a pre-release retail build, not an engineering build!

That's very good news for the Bionic indeed!

Edit: And I just reread Husker's post in another thread and realized he posted the same thing. I need to take a break from these forums, it seems.

But will unlimited blackberry data be converted to regular unlimited data later. Sounds silly but technically, the blackberry data pack is different than what we use for our droids.

I asked at a Verizon store today about blackberry data to android data and they said that a data plan is a data plan, regardless of device. They did state that there are differences between the personal blackberry data plans BIS and the corporate blackberry data plans BES. But we all know that what Verizon reps say and what reality is aren't always the same thing.

When I switched from bb to android they told me there was a difference between the two. I'm guessing it had to do with the BIS but its cost is the same.

Jaymelanie, just check out, craigslist and get yourself a droid x. I got mine for $200. I got lucky as it was cherry too. The only thing I suggest is if you do go this route, sbf the phone to ginger bread in case the person you got it from was running a rom or anything. I didn't realize till two days ago I wasn't getting my gb update due to a leak on my phone.

You can buy a brand new Moto Citrus on Ebay for like $75 (no contract) to lock in on an unlimited data. Its not a great phone but cant beat the price if you are wanting to buy off contract to get Unlimited.

Quoting my friend:
" He said no LTE and its not gingerbread or ICS. O_O and it looks like a mix between Inc and Inc2"

Alright wtf? Maybe false alarm and that may be the Droid 3???? Still asking more questions
