much like many other bionic owners I have endured horrible signal issues fairly shortly after purchasing it on launch day.

after several calls to vzw I had the phone replace at the end of October with a like new replacement and started having issues again soon thereafter

I called vzw again on multiple occasions, first I was told to sit tight for the update to show up... so I did... then I got the update and still had issues.

I called vzw again and said I had issues still - I was instructed to put the phone in safe mode by rebooting and holding both volume keys down after the big M screen. Since I rebooted the data came back and the rep told me it must be one of my apps... I argued a little about there being no way that an app could affect signal since the app doesn't have access to the system files... my argument fell on def ears even after explaining I worked in IT and knew more about code than the rep did... neways rep told me to leave it in safe mode even though it meant I couldn't use any apps I had downloaded from the market and call back if the issue occurred in safe mode...

Of course the next day the issue started again with a friend sitting next to me who had a lg revolution... call to vzw again.. explained I was fed up with the phone and would like to have something different, rep offered a lg revolution since I said my friend's was working while mine wasn't.. I said no, obviously I wanted dual core and 4G or nothing... asked about galaxy nexus and was told no way. So he said why don't I send you another bionic and this time lets also send you a SIM card just in case...

Got the new bionic but the SIM card was invalid... wtf ... called again and was told they would send new SIM card and please use old SIM card.. I said okay... data issues still happening...

Then I got the new SIM card and after activating it I have not been having any problems maintaining signal.. I am a little scared even talking about since I think I maybe jinxing myself but the new SIM seems to have resolved the issue.

Neways... just thought I'd throw this out there

Yep you shoulda kept it quiet! I replaced my sim and it worked it seemed a day or so then it went back to the same old stuff. Waiting to see if they push this .901 out and hopefully it will fix it.

oh man rickj832 say it ain't so!

ugh if this starts pulling the connection issue I am going to ask for a HTC Rezound... ba-bye moto

I think you get some real winners as "techs" at VZ. I went down to the store one day and spoke with a "tech" about no signal with my old BB. They told me to wait and try another area because ........ wait for it........ the wind will move the signal and cause it to not work. I just looked at him and left.

I hope it does fix your issue, in my case it didnt. You may be one of the lucky ones. My problem is I like the phone and when its a working as advertised, it cant be beat.

i once worked with a guy who thought the voltage we read on a wire was negative because the wire's conductor was twisted the wrong direction.

totally agree it is a great phone when working as advertised... but at this point I have had soo many times where I was going somewhere and went to use navigation only to find that the data signal wasn't there. I've had times when I am in my car and unable to use the navigation since no data signal but my passenger with revolution or dinc had no issue, talk about embarrassing ... got the latest and greatest (for a few minutes) but have to fall back on an older device. :'(

that's why at this point if I start having trouble again it will be a different brand for me. I wanted to go G-nex but seems like that has had many signal issues plus it seems like the techs are not going to give that as a replacement for the bionic ... that's why I am going to shoot for the rezound if I get the opportunity. I've had a few htc phones in the past (winmo) before getting the OG droid 1 and although plasticy they were always good devices.
