I know this discussion about the screen has been beaten to death. Some love it. Some hate it. Some think it's so so.

I think we can all agree on one thing.... one positive... It's the best phone i've used that lets me see the screen without any problem in direct sunlight.

It Is Sweet! I was using the Navigation today, I don't have a car dock yet so it was sitting on my seat. A tremendous amount of sunshine and I could still see what was on the screen. With my Droid I would have been trying to shield it from the sun, probably to no avail.

I am very happy with the visibility of the screen in direct sunlight/ :)

Awesome! I use 10% brightness and can still see perfectly in direct sunlight. On my sammy fascinate I would have to put it to 100% brightness to just see what the heck I was typing...

Agreed. One thing that used to drive me crazy about the Thunderbolt is I always had to change the display settings to see the phone when outside.

I had no problems seeing the screen in sunlight with the brightness turned halfway up. On full brightness I had a hard with the Thunderbolt.

Trade off for Pentile screen I suppose ;-)

i dunno about you guys, but at 30% i still cant see anything in direct light

Uh yeah... because your at 30%.

Just set for auto-brightness, I've had zero problems using that setting, battery life included.

I know, right. When my screen is off I can't see anything in direct light either(will someone please get to work on that sarcasm smiley)

LOL Yeah, that is always a problem.

I never really paid much attention, but now that I read this thread, it is visible in direct sunlight. My EVO and EVO 3D both were nearly impossible to see in sunlight.

No offense, but this thread is about as redundant as the threads of people complaining about the Pentile. :)

I guess its refreshing to see something people saying something positive though.

I personally don't like the Pentile but I was prepared to deal with it to have such an awesome phone. Then I heard about how bad the camera is.... that's kind of a dealbreaker for me.

Someone mentioned using auto brightness. Do you know what brightness level your phone is usually at when you are sitting in a well-lit room? I'm guessing auto brightness will eat your battery faster, vs just leaving it set for 10 or 30%.... or maybe at that point, the difference in power is not noticeable?

Well the slider for brightness does not have percentage on it. It appears auto brightness had it set for just about 30-40% though.. so really same diff, IMO. Also, FWIW I've been getting great battery life on my bionic with regular to heavy use since I got it, with auto-brightness on... I suppose YMMV ?

Maybe its just me, but I find that hi-res pictures/images seem to look fine on this screen. I opened a few, some of which had strong yellows and didn't notice any distortion in the coloring or pixelation. I noticed some odd colors in the way icons display. I wonder if this has more to do with blur than the pentile screen. Ill admit it takes some getting used to, but I don't find it to be horrible. I don't mind the way video displays, thats why I have a tablet and TV, i don't see myself watching video on the phone very often.
