Bixby voice finally here!

I didnt have to update anything. I hit the Bixby button and there it was. Setting it up now.

I've downloaded it and played with it a bit. Meh. I most likely won't use it just like I don't use Google Now much and never use Cortana on my PC.

I'll stick with Google..

They are not the same in terms of what each can do.
That aside, do not have a use for either.

Just in case some may be looking for the update. You have to open Bixby & the prompt will be there.
It is not under the usual software update tab.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I'm enjoying Bixby quite a bit. It's a bit more functional now than the beta was. And of particular note is the fact that now, you can get Samsung Rewards points for using Bixby and "leveling up." Which is a pretty big deal since those rewards points add up to actual dollars.

As for the Hello Bixby cards...yeah, those are quite useless. I've given them a fair chance and I'm not impressed.

You can still use Google to look at your cards like normal. Bixby is for phone functions where Google is more for internet and information functions.
I thought Bixby to be a lot like Google cards? If bixby was just for mainly the phone there is no way they'd dedicate this much effort into the entire deal. Bixby long term is to compete with Google on customer valued information. If bixby has to actually learn each and every one of us they have a very long road ahead. If there was a way to pre load info into bixby like you can or did do initially with Google so bixby can have information waiting on you that is actually worth sitting down and reading then sure I'd use bixby. If it's a painfully long process of learning my habits and preferred information liking over time I doubt they will gain me as a faithful customer.

I downloaded it and tried to use it. It's pretty, gotta cool female voice, but is non functioning garbage IMO. I re-disabled it. Google Now/Assistant blows it away.

Eh, I find Google Assistant rather pedestrian. I end up asking it a bunch of random BS rather than anything useful.

It's good for using phone functions with the voice recognition however I've found that it is not really good at recognizing names accurately when I tried to use to text or call someone.

Exactly my findings. How can you not understand a name based on a slightly different spelling? My wife's name is Meridith and the common is Meredith but it couldn't recognize the name to send a text.

Same here, simple names it would get wrong

Looks like theyve turned this in to a short term promo. According to the bixby screen, this will only be possible until September 14th.

The point of Bixby is that any function you can perform on your phone, you *should* be able to do it by voice command with Bixby. While it will have some google now like qualities, the main point is to help you use your phone completely with your voice--not as much to gather data or learn your interests. At least that was my understanding.

That is one way to entice people to use it

Possibly but it sounds alot better than it is. You can only get 200pts of experience a day and it takes about 600 to level up so far. The rewards arent available everytime you level up from what I see. I got 250 going to level 6 and now its not showing any available for level 7. Im sure they've limited the amount of points possible to get.
