Where can I get just a plain black back wallpaper for the evo?

Try taking a picture in a dark room with the flash off. Save the pic to your phone. Then set that pic as your wallpaper. I did that with my Blackberry Tour and it worked just great. Try it and post how it looks. Maybe others will do the same.

The easiest way is to download Back2Black, the free pure black wallpaper app, from the Android Market

Taking a "black" picture does not create pure black due to JPG compression, and can waste 1.5 MB or more on your phone.

You could even use MSPaint or similar to create a black wallpaper in like 2 seconds.
