Black Patch on my Nexus 5 Screen

Hi, I recently bought a Nexus 5 and it has a dark patch on the screen. This is visible only when the phone is in a locked state. Initially i thought it was dust but the patch stayed on. I have attached the image, can anyone tell me what might be the issue.

Is there any protector film attached there? It looks like it's either a kind of scratch (more like sand blast) on the screen or it could be that it's actually lifting from the inside. I haven't seen the latter happen on a Nexus before, but it's not unheard of.

Is there a way you could take a closer picture focusing on the actual screen? The one posted focuses on the reflection, it's kinda hard to see the details of the blotch.

Is that halo-like effect pretty prominent in real life? It doesn't look normal. I'd suggest taking it back to where you bought it and asking for a return. Or contact Google directly.

Did you get anywhere with this issue? It's just started happening to my Nexus screen. One circular patch over where the finger dimple is and a few long patches around the edges.

Perhaps the top glass is becoming separated? Failure of the adhesive?
