Black text on dark grey background, Android 4.2, Jiayu G5

Hey everyone, could someone help me with this phenomenon. It shows up across various launchers and applications... Absolutely useless!!

Welcome to Android Central! Do you see that when you're running your stock launcher as well, or only with Nova? Is there an Accessibility setting that might help?

It occurs through range of launchers, Nova, Apex, stock one. Some applications suffer from this as well - blact text on black background although they are clearly designed with white text. I have look into accessibility settings - nothing is turned on and nothing seems to help. I suspect it is related to Android version as my friend has got the same phone with 4.2.1 with no problems.

What exact version are you running, and are you rooted? Running a custom ROM?

I am not an expert and never fiddled with it but I ordered installing English language on a different ROM. Looking at the site, it probably is:

What is Etotalk MOD ROM?
Now most of China branded phones come without google play store (android market) and only Chinese because they are for selling in China only, so they are locked and unrooted, if you need to use it well in other countries, you may select our etotalk mod rom.
Etotalk MOD ROM is built by etotalk engineering team, which will optimize the phone performance based on the official firmware.
The service package includes Multi Language OS, Google Play Store, Unlocked and Rooted. It will also delete all non-useful Chinese apps.
Note: this service is for preinstalled only, not including the rom file.

My guess is that it's a problem with the ROM. I can't really help you beyond that. You might be able to find other custom ROMs for that phone if you search on Google, but you'd also need to know how to flash those new ROMs. The process can be different for different devices, so you'd need to find instructions specific for your device.

I have exactly the same black test on grey problem on my Dutch jiayu G4S, Android 4.2.2. Found any solution yet?
