I'm thinking of ordering one on the pre-order early bird special and it uses the same launcher I'm using now LOL..

Really interesting. 🤔

At times, I still miss the feeling of a Blackberry keyboard. I like their concept of the magnetic keyboard.

Thanks for sharing.

Definately will follow this closely. I do like their focus on "designed for doing, not doomscrolling".

I could see getting a Communicator for daily use and then when at home or traveling using a tablet or foldable (Wi-Fi only) for media consumption.

Only two years of updates makes this a no go for me. Additionally, I wonder if the company will even still be in business two years later.
I think it's two year for major OS releases but longer for security updates.

Clicks as a company I think has been around now for two years. Focusing on keyboard attachments initially, if they were surviving/thriving enough (which I'm guessing they must be, or maybe they've simply now attracted additional investment) then the jump to an actual PKB phone was somewhat predicted. The Clicks Communicator, and whatever else other PKB phones they might eventually strive for, seem to be in competition with the Titan models from Unihertz and from a few other specialty PKB efforts. Given various hesitancy that seems to continue to exist about Unihertz or anything that comes directly out of China, Clicks could potentially carve out quite a market for themselves for whatever will still exist for PKB desires, if other alternatives will now die out. Time will tell, and depending on if the Communicator succeeds.

I like it but price besides the early bird should start 300-350 range , get their feet wet and over time go up a little bit in price.
Early bird price seems decent to me. At that price I'd consider it as a primary/sole daily driver if I was right now in the market (which I am not) for replacing my current phone, in supplement to also having a tablet for the less mobile situations (but not also having to carrying a second mobile phone, as Clicks themselves suggest some might wish to do because the Communicator is admittedly not top end and all encompassing for some nowadays richest/fullest needs).

Haha, well it can be useful definitely for 2 years and I think I read it was going up to 5 years security updates.

What version of Android will be supported?

Communicator will run Android 16. We’re comfortable committing to 2 years of Android updates and 5 years of security updates.
If this doesn't come till the end of the year, it really ought to come with Android 17 with two years of updates.

In the end this is all still a dream... Kevin gets enough pre-orders and they'll move forward, he doesn't and the dream ends.

Continued support will likly depend on this turning into a ongoing and viable business with yearly sales.... if it's one and done, then likly there won't be any updates. Unless there is a "real" LineageOS release....

CAMERA....

I take a lot of pictures that I want to be of the best quality... when I'm out and about. I need my phone to be able to take those... but yeah for media consumption at home, it's my tablet or my TV.

In the end I expect that's why these guys... all holding powerful flagship phones, call this a secondary device. But those use to the weakness of most PKB phones these days, will likly find this good enough to be a primary.

I carry a Key2 LE as my daily driver and only phone and it is more than fine for my purposes. I don't need pictures at higher res than my eyes can see and massive file sizes or the other capabilities in an iPhone. I need HUB and basic apps like newspapers, bank, airline, Nest. If Clicks can do it, they'll have my business. There is also the Zinwa Q27 coming supposedly which looks to be a Classic clone from the pictures.
